AINSWORTH HAT-TRICK STARTS MAES Y BRYN STROLL

BUT CHANGES WHEN LLANGOED FIGHT BACK THREATENS THE POINTS

Llangoed and District, the only side without a point, entertained a Maes y Bryn team with strikers Andy Clarke and Paul Ainsworth looking in good form. Clarke played a knock-down in front of Ainsworth who volleyed home from outside the box to put the visitors ahead. The two combined again to see Ainsworth strike his second to double the lead and when he completed his hat-trick it looked like the hosts were in for a long night, with no chance of a point
But the second half saw Llangoed go for it and Martin Byast pulled one back. Byast then thumped home a brilliant long range effort and it was `game on’. The visitors, from looking comfortable, now looked worried as they battled to keep their one goal advantage. With time up, a last ditch effort looked to have secured a point but keeper Dion Lewis - once of Llangoed, pulled off an amazing save and the points were Maes y Bryn’s . The performance by Llangoed will give them confidence and hope in the games ahead. Keep them
