BODORGAN JUNIORS - OFF THE BOTTOM AFTER COMING FROM BEHIND

TO REGISTER FIRST LEAGUE WTN

Saturday 1st of OCTOBER 2016

Last Saturday was a disappointing day for the KWAFL with just the one game going ahead, at BODORGAN with Pentraeth the visitors. Being the only game it gave the pointless juniors – and Pentraeth, the opportunity to be in the `spotlight’ for a change and the ideal time for the hosts to register their first three points.

But that looked unlikely when Pentraeth took an early lead, Tony Farrar took a shot at goal without getting full power in it but as the keeper bent down to field the ball it hit a divot and bounced over his shoulder and in to the net. Not the spotlight Bod wanted.

BuR in keeping with recent performances they brushed the set-back to one side and went all out at the visitors defence and it paid off when Aaron Jones levelled with a shot just inside the box to take the half-time break even at 1 – 1.
The second period continued where the hosts left off, pressing their opponents defence and it paid off when Elliot Patterson-Jones worked his way into the box and as he was about to pull the trigger was brought down, and Luke Hallaway tucked it away to edge them in front. Sensing their first win the juniors upped the ante and it was fitting that Steve Owen should get the third that settled matters because he had been at the heart of everything that was good about the hosts.

The win moves the Juniors off the bottom spot and will give them the lift they needed but, opposition manager, Chris Davies said “... we were never dominant or in any sort of control – even after taking the lead, and to give credit to Bod, they could – and should have scored more than the three and were deserving of the points.

Where next?
