BRO LATE SHOW LIFTS CUP

Bro left it late to seal a scrappy 3-1 victory, scoring 3 times in the last 10 minutes to lift the Bwlch Car Boot Cup ............
Games between these 2 sides are always played with plenty of passion and commitment as no club wants to lose out to their local rivals.
Bro, having the undefeated upper hand in previous games this season, were looking for their 1st piece of silverware as Cemaes Bay were looking to round off their season with a 3rd trophy of the campaign.
With both teams finishing in the top 3 league standings the final was not to live up to the billing on the quality side as the game became a stop start affair but for drama and excitement it was not to be missed.
Highlight of the opening period was a sending off each for both sides as both had to reorganise at the interval with Cemaes' star man heading the Bay into the lead after the break only for Bro to persist and blast their rivals away with 3 quick fire late goals to turn the final on its head.
With 2 wins and a draw from recent meetings Bro Goronwy applied the same successful tactics in giving Richard Williams the job of following Cemaes Bay danger man, & scorer of over 40 goals Steve Mason, where ever he roamed around the pitch to restrict his match winning chances.
Quality play lacked in the opening exchanges with more blood and thunder challenges instead for referee Derek Owen to deal with.
Bay's Ricky Jones tested Gareth Owen early with Andy Williams replying with a wayward volley.
Bro's Connor Jones was starting to see more of the ball out wide and a dangerous run was only thwarted by a smart John Arron Jones low save before the winger had to be replaced due to injury by Cole Whittle.
Mason's only chances of the half were both to come within minutes of each other, firstly after Kieran Thomas' challenge fell invitingly at the strikers left foot his eyes lit up but his close goal bound strike was gallantly blocked by defenders throwing their bodies in the path and then, secondly, in the only time he managed to get free of his man marker he slid his shot wide of the post when sent through on goal.
The action was then more about 2 off the ball incidents that led the officials to reduce both teams down to 10 men.
Bro Goronwy full back Chris Hough was 1st to be shown his marching orders after 32 minutes, clashing with winger Huw Torr and as the winger rolled on the ground and after consulting his linesman the red card was produced.
As Bro were rearranging formation their situation was made easier as only 4 minutes later the numbers advantage was levelled up.
This time Bay's Ryan Foulksman raising his hands into Sam Regan to then also be sent for an early bath.
Bro had the better of the remaining time, Andy Williams only denied by a stretching Rhys Lloyd tackle but the deadlock could not be broken going into the break.
Half-Time 0-0.
Bro gloves man Gareth owen had to be on his toes from the off after the restart from a Bay corner, tipping over a Kieran Thomas bullet header before Andy Williams was disappointed not to put Goronwy in the lead, driving through the middle and managing to round the keeper only to fail to hit the target.
After 55 minutes Cemaes Bay found the back of the net to take the lead from a corner routine, in what was looking their most likely way of them getting a goal, Mason out jumping the defence at the far post to firmly head the ball past Owen into the back of the net for 1-0.
On the break Kennon Downey was only denied at the far post by an excellent Owen save as the Bay looked to increase their lead.
The telling moment, and ultimately the game changer, came after 69 minutes as Bro Goronwy brought on their under 16's captain Rui Da Silva to immediately give them more drive and domination in the mid field area.
It still took Bro to the closing stages to level the final but not before the Cemaes coaching staff were dancing on the pitch in celebration thinking they had gone 2-0 up, Huw Torr finding the back of the net but using his hand to knock the ball past Owen and as the players celebrated linesman Carl Hagan correctly made the referee aware of the infringement.
After 83 minutes it was 1-1, Sam Regan flighting a free kick into the danger area and after the aerial challenges the ball fell to Rui Da Silva on the edge of the area who intelligently watched the ball drop before flicking a curling finish into the top corner.
After the leveller their then only looked to be 1 winner of the showpiece as Bro dominated all the attacking play and it was to be the man of the match Andy Williams' class finishing that would be the difference.
On 86 minutes Williams looked to have taken his blistering run too wide but expertly produced a rapid shot that flew high into the net from an acute angle that gave Jones not a prayer of stopping to put Bro 2-1 in front.
With the Bay now having no chance but to throw bodies forward they were to be caught out again in the final minute as Piers Dudley rushed them into giving back possession where Williams didn't think twice before dispatching a low shot straight into the net for 3-1 to leave Bro Goronwy captain Dylan Jones to lift the Bwlch Car Boot Cup.
The final match of the season will see Bro again look for more silverware, in next Fridays Assist a Claim Cup Final against champions Valley Athletic at Holyhead Hotspur FC.
Full-Time 3-1.
