BRO IN SEVENTH HEAVEN SEND OUT TITLE MESSAGE

LOUD AND CLEAR CATCH US IF YOU CAN

SATURDAY 16th of JANUARY 2016
Three matches in the KWAFL beat the weather, one of which has significant bearing on the destination of the Championship. That without a doubt was the `match of the day’ at Cae Nerys where `run away’ Leaders Bro Goronwy were looking to extend their ten point lead with a victory over visitors second placed Maes Y Bryn, who were desperate for the three points to reduce the margin and keep the leaders in sight
Spectators anticipated a tight game but with the strike power in both squads expected goals... and they weren’t disappointed. Or to be more correct, the home supporters. They had to wait twenty one minutes for Andy Swindells to break the dead-lock and another thirty six for Graham Jones to double the lead but then with the visitors resistance broken it rained goals as Bro turned on the style. Four minutes later and Andy Williams neted his first and minutes later he added a second [61,67]. There was no stopping the buoyant hosts as Graham jones grabbed a second [73] leaving Adam Henderson [80]and Callum Thomas [88] to register the sixth and seventh. The 7-0 score line sends a loud and clear message that this season Bro are not going to be pipped at the post last minute.

Llangoed and District, who scored four goals away from home last Saturday but still ended on the losing side, went one better this week scoring FIVE and taking three points from their visit to Pentraeth Reserves. Marhew Owen set them on their way with the opening goal five minutes before the break [h/t 0-1]
Within a minute o the restart Mitchel Jones doubled their lead and four minutes later he notched his second with a thundering volley to make it three. Pentraeth, to their credit kept plugging away even though Wayne Thomas made it four [65] Andrew Wunnup did pull one back dor the hosts [71] but Caerwyn Williams killed off any hopes of a Pentraeth fight-back with the fifth [78]. The win puts Llangoed into fifth place

Llanfairfechan Reserves looked like taking the fifth place with a `victoty’ over fourth placed Valley thanks to a Mathew Jones strike in the sixteenth minute against visitors Valley. But despite traiing for most of the game Justin Williams late strike saw the points shared and ensured Valley remained fourth.

MAGNIFICENT SEVEN AS BRO TURN THE SCREW IN TITLE RACE
In what could be a highly significant victory Bro Goronwy dismantled Maes Y Bryn in a 7-0 thumping to leave them 13 points clear at the summit and in turn can only now be pipped to the title by chasers LlanfairPG reserves.
With only 2 league games remaining, at home to Llangoed and a potential last day decider at LlanfairPG, Bro can now sit back and wait for their rivals to play catch up, being 4 matches behind with the pressure of having to deliver in every match.
It turned out to be a stroll in the park for Goronwy as they dictated play against a tepid Bangor side, controlling possession throughout and through a well organised back line not giving the visitors any chances, home keeper Jonny Sweetser-Hawkes never troubled in the whole match.
Connor Lewis narrowly stroked wide early on and prolific goal scorer Andy Williams was only denied by a defensive block as Bro looked like the only team to open the scoring.
Despite the slippy conditions, the playing surface a credit after the recent weather, Graham Jones' midfield work rate combined with Andy Swindells' creativity were producing all the opportunities for the home side.
Captain Dylan Jones floated a header the wrong side of the post before Bro deservedly took the lead after 21 minutes, Liam Griffiths out wide whipping in a cross into the box for Swindells to make an awkward half volley look easy as it flew into the bottom corner of the net past stopper Dion Lewis.
Williams' snapshot was saved well before Maes Y Bryn's only meaningful attack of the match, Andy Clarke's run enabled a lay off to Paul Ainsworth who could only send his shot wide of the target.
Ryan Jones went close as Bro looked to increase their lead but it remained only a single goal at the break.
Half Time 1-0.
The second period would turn into a goal feast for the title favourites as once the 2nd goal went in the visitors heads dropped as they crumbled as a combined outfit.
Graham Jones energy paid off as he made it 2-0 on 57 minutes, striking a pile driver from 25 yards out which, with the aid of a slight deflection, looped over Lewis into the net.
It was soon 3-0 as Andy Williams gratefully took the invitation of the parting defence to run through on goal and slot low into the net.
The 4th goal was all down to Williams again, quickly turning in the box to draw out a cynical lunge, before confidently side footing the ball into the top corner from the resulting penalty kick.
As Williams made and converted his penalty, it was to be the same from Graham Jones.
Still managing to make a bursting midfield run with less than 15 minutes remaining, the midfielder was felled down in his tracks inside the penalty area resulting in a 2nd penalty of the game.
Even though his spot kick was denied by a diving Lewis he was on hand to smash home the rebound and make it 5-0.
A goal keeping error brought up the 6th, gloves man Lewis failing to successfully clear his lines to leave Adam Henderson to roll the ball over the goal line from close range.
There was still time for Bro to make it a magnificent seven as Callum Thomas out paced his marker before cutting in and rounding the keeper with ease to top off an excellent afternoon for the Moelfre side.
Full Time 7-0.
