DEADLY DUO DISMISS

NEWBOROUGH IN DARGIE CUP

DEADLY DUO DISMISSES NEWBWCH:
Pentraeth had a more difficult task as they travelled to inform Newborough and it turned out to be an excellent game. The game seemed to be going to plan when Sam Regan crossed for Tom Taylor to open the scoring for the visitors [25]. Undaunted,
Newbwch were level six minutes later when Rob Hughes played a neat ball in for the alert Dafydd Harries to nip in, round the keeper, and put the ball away to leave a 1-1 half-time score-line.
Five minutes after the restart Pentraeth regained their lead. A ball over the top by Tony Farrar, bounced as the keeper came out and Taylor just managed to get there first and put the ball away. Again the hosts dismissed the set back and levelled again four minutes, with Nathan Moore nodding home a right wing cross. It wasn’t long before the visitors went ahead through a `scrappy goal’ scored by Gareth Roberts. Tom Taylor completed yet another hat-trick when he met a `cross come shot’ to guide the ball home at the near post [70]. Then Gareth Roberts notched his second with a strike from inside the box. [75]. Roberts could have also had a hat-trick from the penalty spot, but his low shot straight down the middle was blocked by Keeper Rogerson’s outstretched leg. Rogerson had also denied Taylor a fourth when he saved his penalty struck straight down the middle. Though disappointed, a spokesman for Newbwch said, “It was a good open game, seven goals, two penalty saves, some excellent football and well refereed by Mr Stephen Jones of Bethesda”.
