BOSS BRODIE BREAKS BATTLING BETHESDA BACKS

TO SET UP TITANIC TITLE DECIDER

The top two teams in the Kon-x Wales AFL, Holyhead Town and LLangoed & District have been leap fogging each other for the TOP SPOT over the last couple of weeks heading towards a major `Head on collision’ this coming Friday [28th April].

Llangoed played at Pentraeth picked up three points and went top with a two point lead. A couple of nights later Holyhead played Valley picked up three points and took over at the top by one point. Then Llangoed played their penultimate fixture at home against Bethesda Reserves, picked up three points went back to the top with a two point lead.
Monday night [24th] Holyhead played their penultimate game also at home, and also against Bethesda. Despite the importance of the game [a must win] Manager Craig Brodie played some of the squad that were not regulars. It looked like a decision that could well have backfired on him as half-time approached with the sides deadlocked on 0 v 0.
The second half looked to be heading in the same direction as the hour mark approached and Bethesda with nothing to play for were battling as if their lives depended on it. But there are a couple of sayings that spring to mind as being appropriate: - Cometh the Hour cometh the Man, and If you want a good job doing ......................DO IT YOURSELF’. So Manager Brodie did just that and scored that `elusive goal’ [and what a goal] to break the dead-lock and Bethesda resolve. Collecting a ball around the half-way line he let fly and the bounce before it reached the keeper saw it hit the back of the net. The goal had the desired effect and ten minutes later Mathew Thomas doubled the lead [70]. With eight minutes remaining Nathan Harris made it three, and three points to go with it puts the Harbourmen back on top with a one point lead and just ONE game to play for both clubs.

Holyhead’s final game is at home whilst Llangoed’s final game is away Llangoed have a plus 32 goal difference compared to Holyhead’s plus 28 BUT that is totally insignificant, because their final game is against EACH OTHER.
So, if you are not of a nervous disposition, get yourself to Holyhead next Friday to see who are the Champions and who has to settle for Runners-up.
It’s NOT ALL ticket and it’s not for the fainthearted so if you can stand the tension and have a £1 or so to spare get yourself down there. .....BUT BETTER GET THERE EARLY. 6:30 kick-off
As at 19/4/17
