AS TOWN RESERVES WIN LOCAL DERBY

LLANGEFNI TOWN 2 V GAERWEN RESERVES 1

Konx Wales Anglesey League `Friday night football comes to Llangefni’ and with it the support as well, with Gaerwen Reserves the visitors. A decent sized crowd witnessed a very close and exciting game and the only surprise was that such an entertaining game should reach the break goal-less. The game had added spice with the visitors including a number of ex Town players in their ranks and one came close to opening the scoring with David Jones beating the keeper only to see his shot come back of the cross-bar. That stirred the hosts, to step up a gear and just over the hour mark they took the lead through Arwel Williams who beat the off-side trap to run on and clip the ball; over the keeper [65].

Ten minutes later Gaerwen equalized when match official Kevin O’Neil awarded a penalty, only for home keeper Gwynfor Williams to pull off a fine save from Darren Owen’s spot-kick, but the alert Dave Jones was quick to react and tuck the ball away past his ex-team mate for 1-1.
It was now end to end as both teams sought the winner but with time ticking away a draw looked the most likely result. That was until; Iwan Williams stuck the winner from inside the box with five minutes remaining to give Cefni the points. Another exciting finish in the Anglesey League, in front a large and appreciative crowd. Another large crowd on the Saturday at Gaerwen saw the two senior sides produce another win for Llangefni 3-1
