GAERWEN AND TREARDDUR BAY ARE THROUGH TO

NWCFA JUNIOR CUP QUARTER-FINALS

NWCFA JUNIOR CUP

Two more KWAFL teams made it safely through to the quarter-finals.

Gaerwen Res., took just ten minutes to forge ahead at Llandudno United thanks to a Shaun Morris strike and looked to be in control until Mathew Renwick levelled some ten minutes later and the game took a more competitive edge, Greg Parry restored Gaerwen lead just before the break and the hosts battled to get back level, but Mathew Griffin increased their lead [72] and further goals followed from Gary Griffiths [80] and Greg Parry made it five with his second with two minutes left.

Trearddur Bay Reserves are also through but at the expense of fellow AFL team Llangoed and District, after twice coming from behind to snatch a narrow victory by the odd goal in five. Llangoed started the brighter and deserved more than just to be level at half-time, Tom Parry firing them in front and Jordan Jones levelling. Llangoed were quick out of the starting blocks at the start of the second half, and took an early lead, Mark James on target, and they began to dominate but late goals from Jordan Jones and Anton Williams saw Trearddur win through.
After the game, Bay manager , Nigel Chambers was quick to praise Llangoed and said, “...they were the better side – especially in the first half and deserved to win” But he does himself an injustice, because at 2-1 down he brought on `the giant’ Anton Williams, who changed the game. He scored the equalizer after a run from deep in his own half, and at 6’.5” the visitors couldn’t handle him and he played a part in Jordan Jones winner - and his second.
