GARETH BARKER BAGS THREE TO GIVE TIGERS HOPE

BAY BEAT BEFFRO AND HOLY ISLE GO DOWN AT CEFNI

Saturday 10th of May 2014
With Kon-X Wales Anglesey League leaders Morawelon not playing it was essential for second placed Menai Bridge Tigers to take all three points, to keep alive their feint chance of the title, as they welcomed a Trearddur Bay side that only last week had defeated them 3-0. Anything less than a win and they wouldn’t need to wait for the `fat lady.... Tigers pounced early with Dave Baston finishing off excellent work by live-wire Andrew Barker [25]. The 1-0 half-time lead remained until just after the hour mark when Gareth Barker seized on a rebound to give Tigers some breathing space. Brother Andrew then produced a little piece of magic to make it three [74] and three minutes later Baston played an inviting through ball for Gareth Barker to run on to.............only to be pulled down in the box. He got up to dust himself down before driving the spot kick home for his second to make it four nil, and, sure enough, he duly completed his hat-trick with five minutes remaining and e 5-0 score-line . If they want to be champions they need to win at Aberffraw on Monday next and then go on to win at Morawelon on the Saturday ............ providing that Aberffraw can also take three points off them. In short they need the Morras’ to lose BOTH remaining games !!!! [was that a pig I saw flying by]
Aberffraw, in third place, who Tigers need to beat Morawelon, travelled to fourth place Cemaes Bay, returning pointless on the end of a 3-0 reverse that saw the Bay leapfrog them into third place and they dropped into fourth place. Sion Wyn Griffiths grabbed a brace and Tam Morton the third.
Llangefni Town played host to an ever improving Holy Isle team and in an exciting tussle, Town ran out winners by the odd goal in five. Gareth Wyn Hughes opened the scoring for Cefni [9] and doubled it on [55]. Back came the Isle wi9th goals from Mathew Roberts and Gethin Rowlands, only for a Llion Jones penalty [80] to turn out to be the winner.
