BRO ON FIRE AS WILLIAMS 4 GOAL SALVO DESTROYS PWLL
Bro produced six of the best as they took apart league leaders LlanfairPG reserves in a 6-2 Bwlch Car Boot Cup victory .............
Billed as Match of the Day these two front runners for this years league crown didn't fail to produce the goods in a thriller where the home side deservedly took the win.
Bro took the honours in the opening day fixture, narrowly winning 2-1, but after that defeat LlanfairPG have pushed on and won every game since where as Bro Goronwy have had a couple of disappointing performances.
In this Bwlch Car Boot Cup fixture there was only ever going to be 1 winner as Bro looked to tear into a nervous away defence from the outset and after picking up an early goal a quick fire triple effectively put the game to bed at the interval.
With Llanfair replying early after the break with 2 quick goals themselves their slight hopes were doused as they had no reply to a rampant Andy Williams who tore the defence apart and showed that you never lose the instinctive killer touch in front of goal to bag himself 4 worthy goals.
Bro Goronwy started the match by pressing high up the pitch and not giving the defence time to settle and this pressure was showing as the away back line was beginning to look vulnerable and fell behind after 8 minutes.
Young Bro winger Adam Henderson picked the ball up out wide and had confidence in floating a dipping shot that was heading under ex Bro gloves man Phil Evans' crossbar and with the keeper only able to palm the ball up it fell into the back of the net.
Evans redeemed himself moments later, quick off his line to smother Andy Williams close range shot as Bro looked to gain a 2 goal cushion.
Barry Roberts played in Ryan Jones only to side foot wide of the post before Graham Jones also headed off target after full back Chris Hough was felled out wide.
Callum Thomas should have done better but fired over but was soon smiling as he put Bro 2-0 up after 39 minutes.
Sensing a mix up between defenders and keeper he pounced to pinch the ball first and despatch a neat finish over Evans.
The away side were now there for the taking and with only minutes to the break Bro didn't hold back and gained another 2 quick fire goals to send them in 4 up to the good at the break.
Andy Williams started off his goal haul by arrowing a right footed missile of a shot that flew past Evans from an acute angle before instigating his next goal.
Breaking fast down field from a Llanfair corner he forced the stopper into an impressive near post save but from the resulting corner was on hand at the front post to finish with a left footed flick.
Half-Time 4-0.
The only hope of getting back into the match was for Pwll to find some early replies and they didn't disappoint, Aled Steele poking home a Tudur Williams cross from just off the goal line before Gareth Owen used his tall frame to tip over Morris' shot on the turn only for Greg Parry to nod home the resulting corner with a free header to peg the score back to 4-2.
Andy Swindells couldn't have connected any sweeter with his edge of box thunderbolt for Bro but had to watch the ball thudder back off the shaking goal post as the home side looked for the next goal to settle the game down.
The clincher came after 63 minutes, Williams gaining his 2nd hat trick in successive games at Cae Nerys, Henderson assisting with a clever ball over the defence where the forward never gave it up to capitalise on hesitation again between defenders and keeper to lob over the sprawling Evans.
With Bro now back enjoying the afternoon man of the match Williams was to bag his 4th of the game to put Bro out of sight at 6-2 with still 20 minutes left to play.
Chris Hough's trickery out wide produced the important set up for Williams to again confidently smash home past Evans.
LlanfairPG's 20 goal hot shot Shaun Morris was not finding any change out of Bro's determined back four and was replaced by Warren Fletcher to try and give them more physical presence up front but it was Goronwy who had the final chances of the match and chances to score more goals.
Jac Thomas turning on the burners before pulling the ball back for Rui Da Silva to calmly pick his spot only for Williams to divert the ball wide and then in a role reversal Da Silva ran riot out wide to square for a Thomas tap in only to see it ruled out by the linesmans flag for offside.
Full-Time 6-2.
