WITH VITAL WINS

Kon-x Wales Anglesey Football League
Saturday 17th of DECEMBER 2016
It was back to Cup action for the teams in the Kon-x Wales Anglesey League, in the Bwlch Car Boot Cup. Leading the way in Group A , level on points, were Holyhead Town and Bryngwran Bulls, and with both teams playing at home a win was essential.
Holyhead Town 4 v 3 Pentraeth Res.
Pentraeth wasted no time in showing their hosts that they meant business , taking just seven minutes to forge ahead through Iolo Owen, and seven more minutes later they doubled their lead with a penalty. Home keeper, Nick Murphy, racing out in a one on one, succeeded only in bringing down the player leaving the match official pointing to the spot, and Alex Jones duly obliged to make it 0-2. Holyhead were reeling and worse was to follow, when Chris Tute made it three with half-time some eight minutes away. The text messages to the Bulls game made for good reading as they enjoyed their half-time drink winning by two goals to one.
In the home dressing room, at the break, Towns managers words were hotter than the tea, as he gave them a right old rollicking. It had the effect he wanted and within minutes of the re-start Tom Hadley pulled one back, converting a penalty, and just over the hour mark Mathew Thomas struck to bring them within one goal [2-3] Pentraeth now knew they were in a game as Holyhead piled on the pressure and with fifteen minutes remaining the hosts were level when Leroy Parry let fly from some forty yards to send the ball thundering in to the net. The text messages being sent to the Bulls now were not a good read , and with just one minute left Barry Lavelle crowned a tremendous fight back as he met a cross to hit the winner.
Bryngwran Bulls 2 v 1 Valley.
Both teams needed the win. The Bull to stay level with Holyhead and d Valley to ensure that the Bulls didn’t pull out of reach. So a close encounter was anticipated and proved to be the case. Bryngwran edged ahead when Nathan L:ewis was the quickest to react in a goal-mouth scramble and poke the ball home [20]. The visitors continued to create openings and grew level on thirty five minutes courtesy f Jerome Silence. The Bulls being made aware that Holyhead were trailing at home raised their Game and went all out for the klll and with Archie Wala pulling the strings in mid- field a goal looked .likely. With the half-time break a minute or so away Andrew Bailey pounced to nudge them in front [H/T 2-1]
The competitive second half produced no further goals but a vital win for the Bulls
In group B the `clash of the day’ was the visit of leaders Mynydd Llandegai to second placed Llangoed.
Llangoed & District 2 v 1 Mynydd Llandegai
Mynydd LLandegai travelled to Llangoed knowing a win would see then six points clear at the top and give them a major advantage of reaching the final , whilst a win for Llangoed would see them draw level on points and make for tight finish for either side to make the final ahead of the other.
Llangoed and District on the day were a bit too strong for their visitors and had a match winner in Owain Roberts who struck to put them ahead and again to double the lead and his account. Both teams, who have won their home game against each other, now have two games to play and are equal on points and goal difference of plus three for Llangoed following the two goal victory.

BODORGAN Juniors 1 v 2 Bethesda Res.
[ with thanks to Robin Griffiths]
Sucker punch topples Juniors!
On a damp cloudy afternoon the juniors hosted Bethesda Reserves in the Car Boot Cup, although nothing was at stake as both teams are far behind Mynydd LLandegai and Llangoed in the competition. The juniors started brightly and on 8 minutes Ryan Hughes had an effort on goal. The juniors attacked and on 10 minutes Jason Owen headed over the bar. Bethesda had sporadic breaks and Steve Jones had a long range effort and so did Kyle Williams but the Juniors were playing neat football up to the last third where there was no cutting edge. Both Iwan Parry and Luke Allaway went close to scoring amid a host of chances being created but squandered. The on 28 minutes Luke Allaway powered a header home to open the scoring but instead of consolidating the juniors attacked and were caught on the break and on 32 minutes Steff Davies equalised. Bethesda gained in confidence and created two chances which should have been converted, however the Juniors again recovered their poise and created several chances which should have been converted alas Allaway hit the bar Sam Hallas and Steven Hughes fired wide and Jason Owen fired narrowly over before half time. Half Time 1v1.The second half opened with Bethesda attacking but the Juniors again powered forward and in quick succession Luke Allaway ,Dylan Bee and Allaway again fired wide. Jason Owen then went close on two occasions. The Bethesda youngsters had their backs to the wall but defended well aided by their keeper Paul Roberts who pulled off some fine saves late on as Jordan Williams headed goal wards twice and shot from close range. The Juniors kept attacking but one had the feeling they weren't going to score and Bethesda would breakaway and score which is exactly what happened on 87 minutes as from a quick break as Ashley Parry was sent free by Adrian Roberts to score. The Juniors pressed hard for the equaliser but it wasn't to be. Bethesda's youngsters stuck to the task and although it was a backs to the wall performance they got the breaks and scored with Craig Jeffreys being their star. Bodorgan meanwhile have to be more clinical. They must take the positives out of the game they passed well going forward and created chances but failed to take most of them
