The prestigious Dargie Cup Final will be contested by Llangoed and Valley following two exciting and entreating semi-Finals. Llangoed needing extra-time and Valley needing resolve, determination and a belief in one another as their nine men hung on to their lead against a powerful finish by Holyhead looking to make their two man advantage count and book their place in the final.…

Valley 3 v 2 Holyhead Town
Ashley Hughes Justin Williams Chris Hughes
Mike Davies Luke Pleming

Just last week, Holyhead defeated their visitors, Valley, 4v1, to book a place in the final of the BWLCH CARBOOT CUP ,One week later and the same opposition stood in their way as they clashed for the right to take their place in the final of the prestigious DARGIE CUP sponsored by L:UCAS OIL It looked to be going to plan when Chris Hughes struck to put Town ahead. But Valley were quick to shrug it off and continued to press the visitors defence. The equalizer wasn’t too long in coming, Holyhead conceded a Free-Kick some twenty five yards out and Ashley Hughes sent the ball flying into the net This was the spur Valley needed and an exchange of passes left Justin Williams with the space to find the net from close range and edge the hosts ahead.. Leading 2-1, Valley were playing the ball around with confidence and a delightful through ball by Ashley Hughes allowed Mike Davies to run on and beat the keeper
The hosts, with a two lead, - earned with attacking play, were looking confident, but on the hour, a red card reduced them to ten men and raised Holyhead’s hopes as they upped the tempo leaving the hosts to rely on their defensive qualities. Then having endured twenty minutes with ten men ,Valley were reduced to nine following another red card and with ten minutes remaining faced a backs to the wall as the Holyhead onslaught began. But the hosts battled on and restricted Holyhead to just the one further goal, scored by Luke Pleming , to run out winners by three goals to two

LLANGOED & DISTRICT 2 V 0 MYNYDD LLANDEGAI RESERVES Mitchell Jones, Matty Owen
[aet]
Valley’s opponents will be Llangoed FC who were taken to extra-time by Mynydd Llandegai Reserves in the second Dargie Cup semi-Final at Tyddyn Pain. There was nothing between the two teams, Mynydd couldn't break through the home defence and when Llangoed managed to get through Mynydd's defence the outstanding gloves man Dave Ball was at hand dealing with everything..
The hosts should have made the breakthrough 28 minutes when Carwyn Williams found himself one on one and in acres of space but he drilled his shot straight down the keeper’s throat.
On 33 minutes Llion Roberts took an audacious shot from outside the box which had the accuracy but didn't have the power to beat the man between the sticks.
The first half ended 0-0
The home side upped the tempo and it was clearly evident as the chances where coming thick and fast they still couldn't find a way past the keeper,. And they could be excused for thinking it wasn’t going to be their day when Carwyn Williams broke free down the right and saw his shot from the corner of the box cannon back of the post straight back into the keeper’s arms.
Mynydd upped their game at this point and came more into the game but still couldn't really manage to break down the home defence and the 90 minutes ended 0-0.
So to extra-time, and Llangoed almost committed suicide playing the ball back into the defence from the kick off, the defender Miss controlled the ball and before he knew it had an attacker breathing down his neck he luckily managed to spare his blushes by sliding and putting the ball out for a throw in.
Llangoed then took control of the game again and it was again Matty Owen going down the left hand side weaving in and out nut merging the defender before floating a lovely cross into the box which was met beautifully by Mitchell Jones this time the keeper couldn't keep the effort out as he found the bottom corner finally a breakthrough.
As the second half of extra time began Mynydd had to go for broke throwing caution to the wind and marksman Mike Hollroyd beat two defenders but sent his shot curling round the outside of the post.
The ball was then launched forward from the defence in a case of anywhere will do but the work horse Matty Owen wasn't giving anything up and he chased it down challenging the keeper who seemed to lose sight of the ball and as he fell he reached out to collect the loose ball but Matty Owen was a little bit too quick and dragged the ball out of his grasp and rolled the ball into the empty net to all but end any thoughts of a comeback by Mynydd.
Llangoed could have added more with chances still falling to Wayne Thomas and Carwyn Williams but failed to add any more.
The game finished up 2-0to Llangoed sending them into the Final.

LEAGUE Bethesda Reserves 0 v 2 Bodorgan juniors
Luke Allaway Cameron Owen

On a cold sunny afternoon Bodorgan travelled to Bethesda Athletic Reserves keen to gain points to stay away from the wooden spoon. From the off the Juniors attacked on a sticky heavy pitch and after 4 minutes Steven Hughes was put through on goal only to fire wide. Bodorgan continued to press with Dylan Bee, Cameron Owen both going close. Then on 19 minutes the Juniors made the break through, Gary Griffiths, sailed over a perfect corner kick which Luke Allaway headed past keeper Danny Jones. The Juniors created several more chances but failed to beat the keeper. On 40 minutes Besda attacked and from a free kick Kyle Williams fired just over. This appeared to give Besda confidence and Adrian Roberts was put through only for Josh Roberts to pull off a double save to deny the hosts .. [HT 0 v 1 ]
The second half opened with the Juniors attacking and Aaron Jones pulling his shot wide, then Patterson struck the base of the post and Steve Hughes couldn't quite convert the rebound.. With the pressure the visitors were mounting on the home defence a second goal just had to come and it did in the 72nd minutes Jason Owen swung over a corner which Cameron Owen met perfectly to glance a header into the corner. .Besda didn't give up and came close from a corner but keeper, Josh Roberts, pulled off a timely save,

Pentraeth Reserves 1 v 2 Bryngwran Bulls Chris Tute Osian Jones, Andrew Bailey

In the remaining league game Bryngwran Bulls travelled to Pentraeth Reserves and proved too strong for their hosts, taking all three points with the odd goal in three that sees them leap-frog Holyhead to take second place. Chris Tute was the Pentraeth marksman whilst on target for second place Bulls were Osian Jones and Andrew Bailey
