LAST MINUTE JOY FOR LLANFAIPWLL

By McCann Dave

MEANS MISERY FOR VALLEY

Llanfairpwll Res, lying in second place before kick-off, travelled to Valley needing to win if they were to stay in touch with the leaders, whilst a win for Valley would bring them level on points with their opponents. So there was a lot at stake and it showed in a competitive first half, where Valley took the lead. No prizes for guessing the scorer, Jerome Sillence, who has scored in every game that Valley, have found the net.

Within a minute of the re-start, the visitors were level and again no prizes for guessing who, Shaun Morris cracking home a right wing cross. Morris has now scored ten in the five games. Both sides made openings and could have taken the lead, but failed to convert and as time ticked away the game stuttered towards a draw and a point each. With the ninety minutes up, Llanfairpwll were awarded a corner and as the keeper went up for the ball he appeared to be impeded and with the home defence appealing for a foul the `loose ball’ was touched home by Mark Williams to give Llan’ the points and retain second place. Valley manager, obviously not happy with the last minute goal said, “it was a disappointing end to the game and not just the goal conceded but the fact that our keeper was taken to the hospital with a suspected broken nose”.
