LEAGUE ANNOUNCES NEW CUP COMPETITION

By McCann Dave

FOR THE CURRENT SEASON 2014/15

As, you, the clubs, were aware, the officers of the League met to give consideration to the number of teams in the league this season, and the number of games each club would have, and what would be the best approach to ensure clubs had as many games as possible.

In the league, with NINE teams, each of those teams is guaranteed 16 games. With the FOUR cups, if a team went out in the very first round they would have 4 games and with the NWCFA Junior Cup it would be a minimum of 1 game making a total of 21. Which the officers felt was not enough for clubs. So, bearing in mind that next season there are clubs who have said they will be joining the Anglesey league [they did not feel they were ready for 2014/15], the League will for season 2014/15 introduce an extra cup.

It will be The Anglesey League Cup and will be arranged on a league basis. With nine teams there will be two leagues A and B.

League A will consist of FOUR teams and B will consist of FIVE. Teams in each of the groups will play each other home and away. After that the top team in group A will play the second placed team in group B and the second placed team in group A will play the team top of group B in a ONE Off SEMI – FINAL , the winners of which will meet in the final.

The rules will be the same as for `deciding the KonX Wales Anglesey League Champions.

This will give teams at LEAST six more games and the competition will be run towards the later end of the season so it will not seem as if you are playing the same teams all the time, even though that shouldn't be the case as,for example, in group B it will only be FOUR, and in group A three out of the ten teams.

The draws already made for KonX Wales Dargie Cup, The William HILL Elias Cup, The Huws Gray Megan Cup and the IPP Trophy will stand But with Aber Foreshore void – unless we suddenly have a tenth team as a replacement!
