LLANFAIRPWLL RESERVES ADD NWCFA JUNIOR CUP TO THE DARGIE CUP

WITH ALL ROUND TEAM PERFORMANCE THAT LEFT LLANFAIRFECHAN REELING

Llanfairpwll Res 4 v Llanfairfechan 0

Llanfairpwll went into Friday night’s NWCFA Junior Cup Final on the back of a 4-1 defeat by Bro Goronwy, knowing the team they had to beat in order to lift the trophy, Llanfairfechan, had dumped Bro out in the semi-final. So Steve Hughes and his squad knew they were in for a battle and their defence would need to block out live wire Mark Chapman who had led Bro a merry dance with his pace and skill in their semi-final clash.
Pwll’ began well and limited Llanfairfechan to the odd half chance and then struck an early blow as Aled Steele moved in to collect the ball and fire home from just inside the box. This jolted `Fechan’ who pressed to pull it back and there were loud shouts when Matty Barley [6] brought Ryan Dodd [7] down in the box [see picture] but the match official waved play on. Pwll were defending well and getting forward at every opportunity and from one such quick break, Liam Morris struck to make it 2-0 it was no more than they deserved. But Straight from the restart Llan showed their quality and were back in the Pwll box only for custodian Phil Evans to go full length to deny Curtis Murray
The second period saw Fechan go for it and the Pwll defence showed their metal with left back Lee Morris having blocked out danger man Chapman and never putting a foot wrong. His performance was closely mirror by Osian Davies and Matty Barley and Shaun Cassey in a solid defence display, and if they did get breached then behind them was custodian Evans in top Form.
As the game wore on and Fechan had to throw caution to the wind, and Pwll seized on the opportunity to hit them on the break with Shaun Morris grabbing a double to take him to 51 goals this season and PWLL to a presidios cup double
COMMENT FROM LLANFAIRPWLL…
“…what a good team performance last night, we defended very well and also took our chances in front of goal when they came and I think we deserved to win…”
