SATURDAY 20th of AUGUST 2016

Valley 1 v 3 Llangoed & District
Danny Roberts Rhys Jones
Mathew Owen
Craig Jones

In the Kon-x Wales AFL, leaders, Holyhead Towns game at Pentraeth was postponed, giving Bryngwran Bulls and Llangoed and District the opportunity to be joint leaders, provided they won their game today.

LLANGOED travelled to Valley where the blustery conditions and heavy showers made it difficult for both teams to settle into any kind of rhythm and the half ended goal-less.
There was an improvement in the second period with the two sides having come to terms with the conditions and adapted their game to suit. It was the visitors who opened the scoring when Rhys Jones reacted the quickest to side foot the ball home in a goal-mouth scramble. Within five minutes Valley were level, when they were awarded a free-kick and Mark Hamblin’s shot bounced off the wall to Danny Roberts who wasted no time in drilling the ball home. Llangoed edged back in front with a goal of quality. Mathew Owen hit a power drive from some 25 yards that looked to be going over the bar until it `dipped’, hit the under-side of the cross –bar and bounced down into the net. The visitors were now looking for goals to boost their goal difference and when a corner kick was floated over Craig Jones netted from inside the box to secure the three points that sees them take over from Holyhead Town as league leaders on goal –difference.

Bryngwran Bulls 4 v 3 Mynydd Llandegai
James Ryan [2] Alwyn Roberts
Dale jones Lewis Hall
Dylan Jones David Hayes [ pen 86]

Bryngwran Bulls who had a `nail bitter’ in midweek against Holyhead, welcomed Mynydd LLandegai Reserves and found themselves in another close encounter and a high scoring one with seven goals scored in difficult conditions. The visitors took a tenth minute lead through Alwyn Roberts but that was short lived as James Ryan strike from the edge of the box, five minutes later, levelled matters. The bulls charged ahead when Dylan Jones, twenty yards out, chested the Ball down and as it dropped volleyed the ball powerfully into the net [2-1]. Undaunted back came Mynydd and Lewis Hall struck to make it 2-2.
Despite the terrible conditions the two sides were playing some good football and the hosts were going all out for the win, which looked `easy’ after two quick goals. Dale Jones put them 3-2 in front and James Ryan with close control made space for himself to slot the ball home to make it 4-2 with his second. But despite the two goal margin they found it anything but `easy’ as Mynydd pulled another back, David Hayes from the penalty spot following a push in the box, and the Bulls were made t o sweat out the final minutes.

Forgetting the win,the Bulls had a better reason to celebrate and Carwyn Jones was pleased to announce that JOHN JONES who suffered injury in a clash of heads with a team-mate in last Thursdays game at Holyhead had successfully undergone surgery and hoped to be back playing in three weeks.
