BULLS BAG THIRD PLACE AND INJURY SEES HOLYHEAD GAME ABANDONED

Saturday 10th of DECEMBER 2016

It was back to league action for all the teams in the Kon-x Wales Anglesey League, and the game of the day was at Llangoed where third placed Valley were the visitors and who on their last visit dumped their hosts out of the William Hill Elias Cup. So the leaders needed to be focussed if they were to pick up the three points needed to keep the Holyhead challenge at bay. Whilst at the same time Valley needed a win if they are to be considered serious challengers to the top two.
Llangoed & District 3 v 1 Valley
Both teams got set for the kick-off knowing a loss today would be a serious blow to their title hopes.
Valley had the best of the opening exchanges, as the tackles were coming in thick and fast., and they went ahead on 20 minutes when Justin Williams shot from some 25 yards took a deflection and ended up in the keepers bottom right corner leaving him no chance whatsoever.
Llangoed couldn't get going at all and looked at sixes and sevens, it almost got even worse for the home side when a deep searching cross from Marc Wilson landed flush on the head of Jerome Silence who slammed his header against the bar.
Two minutes later there was a goal mouth scramble in the Llangoed box but Valley just couldn't squeeze the ball into the gaping net with defenders flinging themselves in front of each shot.
The hosts who could, and maybe should have been 3-0 down at this stage, ,heeded a wake-up call and began to claw their way back and a goal mouth scramble in the Valley box needed their defenders putting their bodies on the line to keep the score line at 0 v 1.
There was a pivotal moment on 33 minutes when a mistimed tackle from Matty Owen resulted in a free kick to Valley but retaliation off the ball saw the referee produce the red card to Marc Wilson and leave the visitors with ten men.
This was the signal for Llangoed to sort themselves out and take full advantage but for the next 12 minutes despite pressing they failed to create a single clear cut chance against the 10 men.
Half time 0-1

The second half started expecting the home side to press on ,but for the first 5 minutes it was Valley who where the aggressors but without testing shot stopper Lee Heywood in goal,.
Then Llangoed started to play football around the tiring 10 men and on 65 minutes the equaliser came from the unlikely source of David Thomas making his second full debut for the club. A searching ball from 35 yards out the outstanding Valley shot stopper had a rush of blood and Thomas lobbed the header over him into a gaping net.
Now it was all Llangoed and on 70 minutes a moment of brilliance when Wayne Thomas picked the ball up some 45 yards out taking on player after player 6 in total working his way into the box and drilling his shot low into the bottom right corner of the net.
Just like last week Darren Edmunds made sure of the victory after coming off the bench when Llion Roberts broke clear of the Valley backline and took a shot low and hard which the keeper saved with his feet only to see the ball fall to Edmunds who finished neatly from 25 yards with his left foot.
After match comment
Llangoed Manager, Vincent Walker was full of praise for the opposition and w2ent on to say , “...
I think the lads from Valley deserve so much credit for their display today they really brought the game to Llangoed and kept bringing it even when down to ten men all the best for the season guys.

Holyhead Town 2 v 1 Bethesda Res. Abandoned after 25 minutes
Second placed Holyhead Town entertained the Bethesda Reserves youngsters with some confidence of collecting three points as they looked to overhaul the leaders, and it seemed to be going to plan when a fine through ball from Roberts saw the inform Tom Hadley tuck it away confidently. This was the signal for more goals and it wasn’t long in one coming..................... but it came from Bethesda as Ashley Parry let fly from some 25 yards to level matters . Keeper Murphy looked to have had it covered as he scampered across his goal-line only to see the ball take a deflection nestle and in the net at the opposite corner. Town set about the visitors defence with power and purpose knowing nothing less than three points would do. The hosts regained their lead following the award of a corner –kick . The ball was floated over, headed down by Barry Lavelle and thumped home by Tom Hadley for his, and Holyhead’s’ second. Their joy was short lived as tragedy struck. A challenge for the ball left seventeen year old Jack Williams grounded and in severe pain with a suspected fraxc6ture. Match Official, Mr Gareth Parry immediately abandoned the game and awaited the ambulance.[25]
After game quotes.
Nick ,Murphy of Holygfead said “...it’s very upsetting to see one of your team-mates suffer a serious injury necessitating the attendance of Ambulance paramedics. It was a fair tackle and our opponents are in no way to blame We all wish Jack well, and Holyhead would like to thank THE Referee Mr Gareth Parry for his actions, his concern and for refusing to leave until everything had been sorted out and there was not5hing else could be done.
Bodorgan Juniors 1 v 6 Bryngwran bulls
Wasteful Juniors Miss Out
The score-line suggests a walk-over but it was anything but. Obviously scoring six goals away from home the Bulls deserved their win, but bad luck or woeful finishing cost the hosts dear, hitting the wood-work four times.
On a damp afternoon the Juniors and Bulls went at it from the off there were end to end chances as Iwan Parry went close for the Juniors on 4 minutes while on 12 minutes Dylan Jones headed the Bulls ahead from a corner with the hosts marking best described as poor. On 23 minutes Andrew Bailey again headed home from a corner and once again the marking was nonexistent. The Juniors tried to get back into the match and Steven Hughes volley was well saved by Bulls keeper Gwynfor Williams. The Juniors laid siege to the Bulls goal but the away defence stood firm until the 35th minute when Iwan Parry fired a shot goal wards which the keeper could only fend away but Iwan Parry was on hand to tap in the rebound..The visitors enjoyed a period of pressure as Bod’ looked second best in the challenges and on 40 minutes John Jones had the run of the wing to travel into the Juniors penalty box and he fired home. But when the Juniors broke up field Iwan Parry blasted his shot against the cross-bar. Half Time 1v3.
The Juniors started the second half well and Elliot Patterson headed wide on 50 minutes then Luke Allaway fired wide on 54 minutes, only for Bryngwran top race up field and gain a corner from which Arwyn Williams netted, again the marking was poor and deserved to be punished as a result. Another Bod’ attack ended with Iwan Parry right foot shot rebounded off the post to safety. Nathan Lewis increased the lead, ,whilst at the opposite end, Allaway again dragged his shot wide. Lewis had the final say as he slotted home in the 86th minute to complete the scoring. The Juniors had plenty of opportunities to score but the Bulls strikers were much more clinical,
Cameron Owen tried to create for the Juniors and was their star man ,whilst THE Bulls Dylan Jones was man of the match…
