BAGGED BY BYAST

The second game in Group A, saw Bodorgan Juniors travel to Llangoed and District for what turned out to be an exciting game with the host coming back from two goals down to snatch it with late winner . The visitors began confidently enough, forcing a number of corners but nothing coming from them. But it wasn’t long before they opened the scoring, Jake Hughes played a defence splitting pass that Dan Connelly raced on to, and faced with a `one on one’ with the keeper he struck a low shot wide of him to put the visitors ahead [25]. Despite putting on the pressure, the hosts were unable to unable find the net and on the stroke of half-time they could have gone further behind, Connolly, again sent through only to put his shot wide of the keeper but just wide of the post and the break came with the single goal dividing the two teams.
Llangoed couldn’t be faulted for effort as they sought the equalizer, but they were denied by the wood-work a couple of times and some slack finishing. In fact, it was the visitors who scored next, and again through Connelly. A long throw by Sam Hallas, found Allaway who headed on from the resulting cross Connelly tucked it away to make it 2-0. Now the pressure was really on as Llangoed threw caution to the wind and just over the hour mark they were rewarded when a pass found Mitchell who created enough room for himself to get his shot away and into the net [67]. The goal lifted the hosts who pushed forward in search of an equalizer whilst the visitors tried to defend in numbers to restrict their chances. But some ten minutes later and Llangoed were level, a break down the left ended with a Matty Owen shot going in off the far post. The hosts were now on a high, and surged forward, wave after wave of attacks and it was a case of `all hands on deck’ for the Juniors as they tried to stem the flow for the final ten minutes, but to no avail. The youngsters couldn't steady the ship and another raid down the flank saw the ball played to Byast who struck the winner, and the comeback was complete.
