LLANGOED & DISTRICT THROUGH IN HUWS GRAY MEGAN CUP

TIE AS CARL PRITCHARD STRIKES WINNER.

The round one tie in the HUWS GRAY sponsored Megan cup saw Bodorgan Juniors play host to Llangoed & District in what turned out to be a close encounter with the visitors securing a place in the quarter-final and a trip to Aberffraw by the odd goal in three. The game developed into an end to end contest but the keepers kept the score-line blank. That is until, a deft ball played by Kyle Roberts found Tom Jones in space who ran on to pull the ball back to Steve Davies who despatched it into the back of the net to put the hosts ahead. They held the lead almost to the half time break but with a minute or so remaining, Llangoed launched a long ball up field where it was flicked on behind the Juniors and Tom Parry was able to run on and chip the home keeper to level matters. The second period continued in the same vein as the first with both sides going at it `hammer and tongs’ . Slowly Llangoed began to get on top and the Juniors seemed to tire. They had given their all and were running out of wind when an in swinging cross came in from the right was met on the volley and flew goal wards, but tremendous anticipation by home keeper Chris Evans saw him go full length to push it away only for Carl Pritchard to collect, side step a defender and fire home the winner.
