MYNYDD HIT SEVEN WITH LIAM OWEN TREBLE AND WINS FOR VALLEY & PENTRAETH

Saturday 3rd of DECEMBER 2016

Most of the teams in the Kon-x Wales Anglesey League, with the exception of Pentraeth who were involved in the NWCFA Junior Cup, turned their attention back to the domestic programme, looking for league points- or Bwlch car-Boot points. League leaders Holyhead Town were without a game with Pentraeth at St. Asaph in the Junior Cup, so second placed Llangoed needed a victory at Bethesda to return to the summit and they did so with the minimum of fuss.

Bethesda Res 0 v 7 Llangoed & District

The visitors hardly had time to raise a sweat before they went ahead, Three minutes in fact. A searching ball from Charlie McKenna fell perfectly for Craig Jones to lob the ball over the out coming glovesman, Danny Sprout from some 30 yards The second goal came from last week’s Hat trick hero Carwyn Williams, as Wayne Thomas supplied the ball on a plate for Williams to make it 2 -0. The two scorers are enjoying a personal battle for the title of top scorer at the club and Craig Jones boosted his chances when he doubled his tally to make it 3 v 0, Callum Graves sending over a pin-point cross that Jones majestically headed home [27]. Then Jones was given the perfect opportunity to complete his hat-trick with the award of a penalty. Having placed the ball, his run-up was a clear sign that he was going for power and as he connected the ball thundered goal wards............hit the cross bar with such force that the ball rebounded all the way to the half way line with the bar still shaking.
Llangoed didn't have to wait long to make amends and it was Williams turn to notch his second with a `bread and butter goal’ tucking away a rebound from close range. [H/T 0-4]
The 2nd half began with Bethesda finally competing but despite their effort they were still unable to register an attempt on target and on 50 minutes Llangoed introduced 2 subs who made an immediate impact.
On 52 minutes sub number 1 Darren Edmunds latched onto to a neat through ball from Lewis Hughes to calmly side foot past the keeper and on 55 minutes sun number 2 Llion Roberts broke through the home back line and rifled a shot into the roof of the net for his first ever senior goal and making the shoreline 6-0.
The scoring wasn't finished there as Williams went on to complete his Hat trick for the 2nd successive week when he ran through to slam the ball home levelling the top scorer with Jones at 18 apiece for the season, but more importantly a 7-0 Llangoed victory which puts them back on top, and helps their goal difference which could be decisive if they are to take the title AHEAD OF HOLYHEAD.

Mynydd LLandegai Res 7 v 1 Bodorgan Juniors

Last week Bodorgan were involved in a nine goal thriller of which they scored five. This week they were up against a Mynydd Llandegai side that has not lost a home since the opening day of the season and are averaging five goals a game so goals were expected. The game provided one less, but sadly for Bod’ they were only able to net one of the eight. A Luke Allaway’s strike on the stroke of half-time reducing the arrears after Alex Griffiths [12] and Liam Owen [22] had opened for Mynydd. [H/T 2-1]
Just five minutes in to the restart, Liam Owen headed his second to make it 3-1and there was no way back for the visitors. Ten minutes later and Richard Heyes scored the fourth and two minutes after Liam Owen was celeb rating another hat-trick. An own goal made it six, and with some ten or so minutes remaining David Heyes scored a screamer from 20 yards to give a 7 v 1 verdict and put Mynydd in fourth place a point behind Valley

Valley v 2 Bryngwran Bulls

Valley welcomed Bryngwran in the Bwlch car-boot Cup and were a goal down on twelve minutes to a Dylan Jones strike. As the game settled, Valley came more into the game and soon had their noses in front with goals from Ashley Hughes, heading home from a corner and Danny Roberts with a long range power drive before the half-time break. [H/T 2 v 1]
The second half saw the Bulls battled to get back in to the game leaving themselves vunerable at the back and Ryan Heywood grabbed a third to give Valley a two goal cushion. Which was just as well because the Bulls were still giving it their best, and the goal they pulled back was the best of the game. When James Ryan picked up the ball there seemed little danger to the hosts but after weaving his way past defender after defender he found the net with a fine solo goal and made for an exciting finish.

Finally, it’s congratulations to Pentraeth reserves who progressed in the NWCFA Junior Cup with a 2 v 0 verdict at St. Asaph youth, Chris Turtle and Iolo Owen getting their goals.
