LLANGOED IN SEVENTH HEAVEN AT BODORGAN GO TOP

By McCann Dave

BUT SCORE-LINE IS MISLEADING

Saturday 3rd of SEPTEMBER 2016
REPORTS
Llangoed and District travelled to Bodorgan Juniors knowing that, with the Holyhead fixture having been postponed, a victory would see their return to the top of the League, and the 2-7 verdict did just that and they sit proudly as League leaders.
To many fans it was no more than expected, and when Caerwyn Williams put the visitors ahead after just two minutes, it looked just a matter of course. But that was not the case, and despite the Juniors having not yet registered a win they are no `mugs’ and some ten minutes later Iwan Parry stunned the visitors by hitting the equalizer. It jolted Llan’ back into action and with ten minutes to half-time the dangerous Caerwyn Williams notched his second to regain their lead and put them back on track. But with five minutes to go to the break the hosts were level again, and it Iwan Parry again looping his shot over the keeper
The second half was eagerly awaited but Bodorgans’ luck was out, having lost one defender to injury, they then lost both central defenders and Llangoed were certainly not going to let this opportunity pass and within the space of ten minutes they struck three times to lead 2-5 through, Owain Roberts, Wayne Thomas and Craig Jones and there was no way back for Bod’. On seventy two minutes Craig Jones headed the sixth, for his second and Wayne Thomas became the fourth player to hit a double when he found the net with six minutes remaining.

VALLEY TAKE UP SECOND PLACE

Valley move into second place by virtue of a 3-1 victory against visitors Mynydd Llandegai Reserves . The conditions were difficult for both sides with the blustery wind and rain, but home keeper Jacob Read certainly made the most of them with his long kick out that sailed into the net after just three minutes. Mark Hamblin doubled the advantage when he cheekily back-healed a Justin Williams cross into the net. [h/t 2-0]
Two minutes into the re-start and Mynydd had pulled one back thanks to Mark Hallroyd and the game became more tense but it remained 2-1 until the ninetieth minute, with the visitors desperate to level, Justin Williams raced on to a through ball to fire under the keeper to kill of any hopes they had.

BULLS GO THIRD

Bryngwran continue to enjoy the switch to Saturday football and move into third place, level on points with Holyhead Town, following a hard earned 3-1 verdict over Pentraeth Res., as a result of a tremendous performance from Garry Cox in the visitor’s goal.
The Bulls charged ahead with just ten minutes on the clock and there was nothing keeper Cox could do as Mathew Roberts let fly from some twenty five yards. Despite the conditions the game flowed and coming up to the half-hour mark the hosts added a second, a neat ball played through saw James Ryan take it in his stride and `jink’ round the keeper with some nifty footwork. But just as the Bulls breathed a sigh of relief at adding a second, Pentraeth struck back and Tom Hughes running on to a long ball fired home. The goal lifted the visitors as they began to open up a bit more and it was clear that the next goal was going to be the crucial one and it went to the Bulls. Their strikers had found Cox impossible to beat but James Ryan managed to notch his second and the points were in the bag.

Richard Owen, the ,BULLS manager obviously pleased with the result said afterwards......." I was just as pleased to see John [JONES] return after his hospitalization following the clash of heads with a team-mate a couple of weeks ago in the Holyhead game. Not only was it good to have him back but to see his performance, it was as if he had never been sidelined.
