MASON DOUBLE GIVES CEMAES THIRD

By McCann Dave

AS THEY LEAP-FROG CEFNI IN 3-1 WIN

With the other clubs involved in Cup competitions, there was just the one game today in the KonX Wales Anglesey Football League, but it was an important one as Llangefni Town Res, lying in third place travelled to Cemaes placed directly behind them. Whilst neither side can actually win the league – they would need the top two to lose all their remaining games which would be impossible because the top two are still to play each other twice, they can still have their say
The two sides were well matched and clear cut chances were rare, but the bay opened the scoring through Ryan Folksman after 25 minutes and with the Town somewhat stunned, Bay struck again, adding a second within three minutes through their captain, Steve Mason and reached the break with the two goal cushion still intact.
The visitors came out for the second period with the managers instructions, get out there, and get a goal back before they do or it’s over, still ringing in their ears. His message worked and six minutes later Iwan Williams struck to pull it back to 2-1 and it was game on. Both sides went for it, with Town pressing but the Bay were always quick hit on the counter and once again, Captain Steve Mason, leading by example, struck to make it 3-1 [70] leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb in the last twenty minutes as the Cemaes defence put up the shutters to take the three points and leap-frog the visitors and regain third place.
