MILES MAGIC MEANS MISERY

FOR BRO DEEP IN INJURY TIME

BRO GORONWY 3 V 3 HOLY ISLE

With the Llanfairpwll v valley game postponed the only other game saw Bro Goronwy entertaining Holy Isle in what proved to be another exciting encounter.

Both sides played the ball around with style and chances were created but with half-time five minutes away it was still goal-less until the persistence of John Littlemore- who struck last week’s winner, paid off as he gave Bro the lead at the break. Seven minutes into the second half and the Isle were level. Luke Miles – another who found the net last week, ran on to a through ball and beat the keeper. There was a lull in proceedings until Andrew Williams latched on to a loose ball from a corner kick to put Bro in front. [66] Three minutes later and the hosts were looking good for another three points when a free=-kick found Andrew Swindells at the far post and he connected with a perfect volley into the roof of the net to make it 3-1.

Holy Isle were not disheartened and set about retrieving the game. Three minutes later and they pulled a goal back, Gethin Rowlands getting on to a through Ball to blast the ball past the keeper. Now the hosts had to dig in if they were to `keep' the `three points`, and with the ninety minutes up they thought they had. But two minutes into injury time, Luke Miles, let fly with a humdinger ‘– “A CERTAIN CONTENDER FOR GOAL OF THE SEASON” [said Manager, Scott Marsden], and it was all square at 3-3.
The goal also saw Luke Miles take an early lead in the Top League goal-scorer

Despite the disappointment of conceding the late, late, leveller, Paul Schools was quick to point out that the Isle deserved a draw in what was an entertaining game, contested by two good footballing teams.
