IN MATCH OF THE DAY CLASH

SATURDAY 30th JANUARYM 2016

MAES y BRYN 0 V 3 , LLANFAIRPWLL RES

The one league game played saw third placed Maes y Bryn welcome second placed Llanfairpwll with both desperate for the three points in their chase of leaders Bro Goronwy. The importance of the game was evident in the early sparring as both teams looked to gain an advantage, and with the strike power in both camps, goals were expected. The visitors were handed an early opportunity with the award of a penalty, and up stepped Shaun Morris who opted for power and blasted it straight down the middle [0 v 1] This signalled a response from Maes who pressed hard for the equalizer but it was Greg Parry who increased the lead before halftime with a well struck finish inside the box.
The next goal would be vitally important, for the hosts it would put them right back in the game, whilst for the visitors it could prove decisive, and when it came it was the latter. A goal crafted by the Morris brothers. With Maes pressing hard, a promising move broke down when Lee Morris read the situation, nipped in to intercept a pass deep in his own half and played brother Shaun Morris clear through on goal, with the whole half of pitch to run alone before a one on one with the goalkeeper, he placed the ball underneath him and into the net for his second and seal the match.

After match quotes:-
Lee Morris said “... an important 3 points and yet another clean sheet. Once again .the team produce another good all round performance which we need to maintain IF we are to pick up trophies”

Conversation between two, fans leaving the field, “ ... well that’s our Championship hopes down the drain.”
“ Your spot on there mate, last two games, top two teams , ten goals against none foe certainly isn’t title winning form. “
