ONE OVER THE EIGHT FOR MORAWELON

AS TIGERS FALL AT TREARDDUR BAY

MONDAY 5th of May
With the top three all in action, it was a case of `Bank Holiday blues’ for second placed Menai Bridge Tigers as they virtually `kissed goodbye’ to the League Championship. Leaders, Morawelon, on the other hand can begin to clear a space in their `Trophy Room’ in readiness. Morawelon fire power, eighty seven league goals in eighteen games, was evident again as they handed out `a mauling’ to one time leaders Llandegfan Antelope. It was a case of one over the eight as they blitzed NINE goals without reply, and the `Deadly Duo’ both grabbed hat-tricks. Ryan Lee scored two and Chris Ryan the remaining goal. In their last two away games they have scored FIFTHTEEN, or in the last three, SEVENTEEN, AND ONLY ONE PLAYER HAS SCORED AGAINT THEM, that being Llangoed Hot-shot, Corrig McGonigle who stuck twice.
Meanwhile for second placed Tigers the torment continues, undefeated in the first half of the season they have lost two of their last three, returned home from Trearddur Bay pointless on the end of a 3-0 verdict, making it three defeats in their last four. It had, started reasonably well with the sides level at the break, but the visitors suffered a set-back when a shot was goal-bound only for another Tigers player to force it home to make sure............. and have the `goal’ ruled out’ for off-side. This was a significant turning point because minutes later the Bay took the lead through Gary Stewart, George Hibbert doubled the advantage and a superb strike from Liam Mortimer gave the reserves their first ever victory over the title contenders.
