PENTRAETH's PLEASING PERFORMANCE POCKET POINTS

AGAINST BODORGAN JUNIORS IN ENTERTAINING GAME

PENTRAETH Reserves picked up their first points of the season with the 4-1 victory over visitors Bodorgan Juniors, though the score-line did not truly reflect the visitors performance. The Juniors, playing down the slope, began well and looked to be starting to take control in mid-field, but Pentraeth using the wind to their advantage and Jamie Loftus struck to give the hosts the lead [12]. The visitors had their chances to level but were made to regret their failure to take one when David Hayes headed home from a corner to double the lead. Back came Bodorgan and Cai Jones smashed a long range effort against the crossbar but Pentraeth goal survived.

The second period started with Pentraeth attacking and a slick passing move gave Jamie Loftus a chance which he tucked away for his second to make it 3-0. Bodorgan continued to play the ball around and when they won a corner 55 minutes the ball was swung in and Carwyn Griffiths connected perfectly to volley home and reduce the arrears. Both teams used their subs to good effect and inject more zest into their play and the hosts were rewarded when Rhys Meilir Jones rounded off another slick passing move with a fine finish for 4v1.

Although the score-line does not suggest it, the game was a close encounter between two young sides looking to play football and Bodorgan Manager was pleased with a more gutsy performance but will now be looking to work on eradicating those individual defensive lapses, whilst at the other end trying to get players to relax and not snatch at chances so some of those missed chances get converted.........but then again a lot of managers are in the same boat!
