AS LLANFAIRPWLL DEFEAT GAERWEN RESERVES

Gaerwen 0 v Llanfairpwll 3 report will follow a little later.
With the Gaerwen field needing some maintenance following a NWCFA cup tie being played when the field really was not fit, the quarter-final tie of the ASSIST A CLAIM Cup was transferred to Llanfairpwll. Gaerwen having been drawn at home against Llanfairpwll in three other cup ties – and won each one, probably were full of confidence regardless of the switch. In the first half Gaerwen had done most of the pressing and created four or five good chances that were kept out by keeper Steve Thomas , or `rushed finishing’. On the other hand, Llanfairpwll were happy to soak up the pressure and hit the visitors on the break, but were unable to find the net either and half-time arrived goal-less.
The second period showed the hosts and new managers Lee Morris and Steve Hughes had the tactics just right as first Ritchie Roberts ran on to a through ball to beat the keeper, and then Carl Evans doubled the score. Now Gaerwen had to go for broke but in doing so left themselves exposed and Dylan Williams rounded it off with the third, that seals a semi-final spot against Bro Goronwy at Cae Nerys.

Llanfair keeper Steve Thomas, having come out and missed his punch, looks back grateful to see the ball pass beteween the side netting and field railings.
