SILLENCE IS GOAL DEN !!

In Group B of the BWLCH Car-Boot Trophy, Valley FC welcomed a Llanfairfechan Reserves side full of confidence following last week’s victory over high flying Bro Goronwy – who up to then were the only unbeaten team this season. Though a bit apprehensive, the Valley youngsters set about their task playing the ball around with accuracy and purpose, creating a number of openings. One raid on the visitors goal was brought to an abrupt end when Jerome Sillence was brought down in the box, leaving the referee pointing to the spot. After `dusting himself down, up stepped Sillence and ...................................., it was one nil Valley.

The hosts doubled their lead when they were awarded a free-kick and from fully 30 yards out, Jack Peters rifled the ball home. The score remained the same to the half-time break but the visitors had not taken matters laying down and only the agility and awareness of keeper James Walton had stopped them pulling the goals back.

In the second period Llanfairfechan pulled it back to 2-1 when Jordon Parker beat the keeper and the game flowed from end to end with both sides making chances. The only difference was Valley had a striker in form, and more importantly, in the right place at the right time, and a keeper proving to be `unbeatable.
The striker, Jerome Sillence, grabbed two more to complete a hat-trick, and has now scored eight goals out of the teams total of fifteen.
The keeper, James Walton, followed his outstanding performance, last week, against Maes y Bryn, with another fine display that had the visitor’s outfield players cursing their luck, as Valley ran out winners 4-1.
