HAGAN HEADER HELPS HOLY HOME

The KonX Wales Anglesey League continues to produce entertaining and exciting games with little between the teams other than the odd goal and such was the clash between, Table Toppers, Trearddur Bay Res., and visitors Holy Isle. After suffering a home defeat on the opening day, the Isle have got their act together and are full of confidence It showed from the start as they set about the home defence and it wasn’t long before they opened the scoring, when Barry Haigh weaved his way past defenders in the penalty box and was brought down leaving the referee pointing to the penalty spot and Stuart Jewell dispatched the ball home to set them on their way.
The hosts were not at their best, failing to create any chances of note, and at times some of their play became scrappy but it was clear the visitors wanted it more and there was a determination about their play. So it was somewhat of a shock when the Bay equalized, with a scrappy goal - but they all count, and a share of the points would see Trearddur hold on to top spot.
Ace marksman, Luke Miles, was not firing blanks but had changed his game to suite the teams game plan, and it was a fitting reward that his performance earned him the Man of the Match award. So the visitors were looking elsewhere for a goal and sure enough they weren’t disappointed, with a little over ten minutes remaining, an Isle corner-kick found its way to the far post, where leaping majestically to head home was recent signing Carl Hagan. Knowing a win could see them go top; the visitors locked it up at the back and played time out

After the match, Bay Manager, Nigel Chambers was quick to accept they ...”had not been at their best, and neither had they played as well as in recent games. Holy Isle wanted it more and deserved the win”
