TIGERS TITLE THOUGHTS TURN TO TORMENT THROUGH TUMBLE TAKEN TACKLING THIRTEENTH.

..... CEMAES COMEBACK AND ABERFFRAW ANILATION

WHAT A NIGHT ! , NO not the Elvis song,................
but `what a night' of surprises. O.K., so maybe not for the teams and players who know what they are capable of, but to the onlookers some of the results last night possibly made you look twice to make sure you had seen it right.

TIGERS TITLE TORMENT – TAKES TUMBLE AT THIRTEENTH.
It was `unlucky’ thirteenth for Tigers. Undefeated in the league after twelve games they travelled to Llangefni to take on a Town team full of confidence after their Dargie cup win over Morawelon, Tigers challengers for the title. For the Tigers it was a return to the scene of their dismissal from the NWCFA Junior Cup, where, just a week ago, Aberffraw had won 2-1 to book their place in the final.
It turned out no better, as the Jones boys of Llangefni struck. First, for an early lead through Llion Jones [5], doubled by Stephen Jones [20] and increased by Iwan Jones, before Danny Brookwell pulled one back. Arwel Williams on the hour for Cefni meant a Lance Williams strike counted for nothing as they ran out deserved 4-2 winners to impose on Tigers their first league defeat of the season.

This result was just what Morawelon had been waiting for as they set about claiming the three points against visitors Cemaes Bay. When Luke Miles struck a loose ball from a corner kick into the bottom corner of the net [38] it was all going to plan and with twenty five minutes to go Gary Jo’ connected with a Liam Williams cross to make it 2-0 and they were well on their way to make up three points on the Tigers. But Cemaes, fresh from their William Hill Elias cup final victory over Llandegfan Antelope, were not going to go down without an almighty battle, and when Steve Mason pulled one back it was the Bay looking the stronger and they went on to equalize and share the points in the 2-2 draw.

The remaining game saw Aberffraw welcome Elias cup finalist Llandegfan Antelope, for what most people thought would have been a close game, especially as the Lope had been sitting top of the league.
It seemed to be going to expectations when a penalty for the visitors cancelled out a Gary Bolton strike and half-time arrived all square [1-1]. So to the second period which will probably be much of the same......,
but NO, Gary Bolton struck twice more to complete yet another hat-trick, seventeen year old Adam Hallybone struck his first goal for the club, and, fellow seventeen year old, Andrew Jones had a double leaving Richard Roberts to add his name to the list as Before ran out 7-1 winners.... Yes SEVEN.
This Aberffraw side with a mix of experience and youth coupled with its defensive strength and Tony Jones added to the management are on a roll..............., and their next game just happens to be next Friday at Holyhead Hotspurs when the take on Menai Bridge Tigers in the Huws Gray Megan Cup Final. They have the final of the NWCFA Junior Cup to look forward to and the chance of another league cup final IF they can see off MENAI BRIDGE TIGERS [again] in the semi’s.....................................
