TREARDDUR BAY CONTINUE UNBEATEN RUN

By McCann Dave

IN LEAGUE V LLANDEGFAN ANTELOPE

The only other League game was the clash between, two in form teams, Trearddur Bay United Res, and fifth placed Llandegfan Antelope. In a wind affected game, it was the proverbial game of two half’s. The visitors had enjoyed plenty of procession in the first period but had failed to gain any advantage with the wind at their backs and the interval arrived without goals. The second period saw a significant change, and Trearddur who were unbeaten in their last five league games set about maintaining that record, and were on the way to doing so when top scorer Mike Williams saw his effort parried and the ball break loose, it was Ryan Woolley who reacted quickest to the ball and scrambled it home for the opener. Worse was to follow for the visitors with Paul Owen doubling their lead. The ball was cleared outside the edge of the penalty box, where Owen pulled it down, before curling a beauty into the net from some twenty five yards. The visitors feeling the game slipping away from them began to press forward in numbers and create openings, but at the same time were also leaving gaps at the back that Newbro’ were looking to exploit and Mathew Jones did just that to make it three, and although Adam Weatherhead did pull one back for the Lope’ it was too little too late.
