KonX Wales Dargie Cup Semi-final

LLANGOED &DISTRICT 1 V VALLEY 4

In the second semi-final of the KonX Wales Dargie Cup, Valley travelled to Llangoed & District looking to reach the Final and create a little bit of history at the same time, by becoming the first Valley FC, or Valley Athletic team to make it to the final since it began in season 1922/23. Enjoying a long unbeaten run – back to October, Valley began confidently enough and it came as no surprise when they took the lead. A penetrating run down the right, a cross to the far post and there was Gareth Wyn Roberts to nip in and head home [19]. The hosts strung a few passes together looking to create openings but Valley defended resolutely and six minutes before half-time they doubled their lead. Roberts using his head to good purpose, and a delightful cross following a run down the left ended with him heading home. Llangoed had a chance out of the blue when Mark Jones powered his way through to unleash a ferocious drive from way out that thudded against the bar and bounced well clear of the box.
The second period saw Llangoed reduce the deficit, this time Mark Jones powered his way through two or three attempted hard tackles to blast the ball home[72]. This lifted the host for five minutes, until Valley were awarded a penalty and when Casey [sure shot] Boylan stepped forward you know the result... the ball was firmly planted in the back of the net. It jolted Llangoed and two minutes later it was all over as Tommy Jenkins made it four.
So Valley make their bit of history and will meet Cemaes Bay in this most prestigious of cups, the KonX Wales Dargie Cup
Final, at the home of Bangor City F.C, - the Book People Stadium, on Friday night 27th of March, kick-off 7pm.Where, no doubt, once again there will be a very large crowd, and a close game if history repeats itself, four of the last five finals have gone to extra-time and three needing a penalty shoot-out before the holders were decided.
An omen to fear ? The last time Valley met Cemaes Bay under floodlights on a Friday night ended with a Cemaes victory by the unbelievable score of 5 - 0. !! NO, I don’t think so either, but make a note on your PC, in your diary, tie string around your finger, so you don’t forget.......it’s sure to be a `cracker’

Where next?

WHAT'S AROUND THE CORNER ? WELL THERE'S CERTAINLY A LOT TO PLAY FOR
HOLY EXODOUS ITS THE END OF THE ISLE FOR HOLY
