DE JA VU AS VALLEY REPEAT LATE DRAMA TO COMPLETE TREBLE

With Valley Athletic having the upper hand in early season clashes, including a stoppage time 3-2 win to lift the Eilias Cup, but Bro Goronwy finishing the season at a canter, defeating Valley en route to lifting the Bwlch Car Boot Cup and demoralising them in a league victory, this end of season cup final would always be a tight affair and it was the league champions that were to have the same winning feeling again over Bro as another late winner proved to be the clincher in a repeat 3-2 win.
Valley controlled early play of the 1st period and took the lead after only 8 minutes, Barry Roberts gratefully benefitting from a wide deflected cross to head home past Owen in the centre of goal for 1-0.
Tommy Jenkins tamely had a shot easily saved before Goronwy's midfield got a hold on the game and the pressure turned and Bro were the only team looking like threatening up until the break and it was to be all level after 30 minutes as striker Ryan Jones produced a wonder strike from fully 40 yards.
Chris Hough started the move finding Piers Dudley who kept the ball alive to allow Jones a touch to set himself up before turning and smashing the ball sailing over the 6ft and more keeper, Elwyn Durkan, for 1-1.
The gloves man had to use all of his massive frame to tip over Andy Williams' goal bound shot and the same striker should have done better at the far post but hesitated when well placed as Bro looked to take the lead.
Pressure was to eventually tell as Ryan Jones again found the net minutes before the interval, calmly turning his man once again and this time finishing low past Durkan inside his left hand post to put Bro ahead.
Valley were hanging on waiting for the half time whistle as Connor Jones went inches wide with a low shot but it remained 2-1 at the break.
Half-Time 2-1.
With a change in formation, Casey Boylan moving into centre midfield from the centre half position, Valley looked a different outfit that started the 2nd half and almost levelled as Mathew Jones couldn't quite connect in the 6 yard box after a goal mouth scramble resulting from Shaun Jenkins cross.
The striker was to find the back of the net on the hour mark, Boylan creating room to cross for Jones who surprisingly had plenty of space to allow him to finish past Owen to level the final at 2-2.
Another midfield change, this time for Goronwy, seemed to swing the game back the other way and the Moelfre men could not have come any closer to restoring their advantage with 10 minutes remaining.
Andy Swindells mazy quality run past defenders gave him the chance to fire past the stopper but instead squared the ball to Taylor Jones who lashed his close range strike goal bound and past the helpless keeper only to watch the ball smack his team mate Jones full in the face and after rebounding back off the post cleared to safety.
Valley were reduced to 10 men after Boylan picked up his 2nd yellow card late on but as Bro pushed for a winner it was to be de ja vu all over again with Athletic producing a last minute clincher to give Bro no time to respond.
The dangerous Shaun Jenkins moved away from his right wing berth to dribble his way past the back line and apply a lofted finish on the run past Owen to give Valley the remaining silverware of the season.
Full-Time 2-3.
