AND MYNYDD LLANDEGAI SEE OFF BODORGAN FIGHT BACK

Saturday 24th of SEPTEMBER 2016

Following their cup exploits, Saturday saw the clubs return to KWAFL action, with League leaders, Llangoed and District looking to take maximum points at the expense of visitors Bryngwran Bulls if they were to maintain their lead over Holyhead Town who have the benefit of games in hand.

Bryngwran kicked off with the advantage of playing with the wind behind them but it was Llangoed who drew first blood when on 17 minutes a Wayne Thomas corner kick was floated to the back post and Nick Williams powered a header into the roof of the net.
On 20 minutes it was déjà vu when a replica corner kick produced the same result, only this time for Craig Jones to head into the roof of the net.
On 37 minutes Bryngwran were awarded a free kick some 40 yards from goal and punted the ball high into the Llangoed box where Llangoed keeper come out flapping at the ball but only managed to let the ball go straight into the net
Half time 2 v 1

The second half kicked off and temperatures began to rise on both sides as each sought to get control but all the play was centered around mid-field. Until 70 minutes, when Mitchell Jones fired home from the edge of the box after the keeper saved a shot from Wayne Thomas, and the Llangoed 3-1 keeps them in top spot.

Valley keep second place after a close encounter at Bethesda Athletic ended with a solitary goal in the seventieth minute proving to be the winner. The goal certainly was a worthy match winner, Mark Hamblin some thirty yards out struck a half volley that flew into the net. The visitors were restricted to the occasional half chance with the home centre backs, Kyle Williams and Gary KALAFUSZ dominant throughout.

Holyhead Town remain serious title contenders just three points adrift of Llangoed but with two games in hand. The ageless Jackie Welsh headed them into a half-time lead at Pentraeth where chances were restricted. The second half was a different story as Town cruised to a 4 v 0 victory. a Tom Hadley grabbed a double his first a delicate lob over the keeper, and a Barry Roberts strike

Bodorgan seemed destined for a heavy defeat as Mynydd Llandegai raced into a three goal lead and with just half an hour on the clock. Iwan Morris netter on 14 minutes and two minutes later Tomos Griffiths doubled the score and when Liam Owen made it three [30] the writing was on the wall ! But, not so, the Juniors are a better side than their points tally would suggest. Slowly they began to pull themselves together, the defence was more solid and no further goals conceded before half-time which in no small part was down to the outstanding performance of keeper Josh Roberts. The second half saw a big improvement in the hosts and they began to close down the inspirational Colin Ball; who was at the heart of everything Mynydd did. As a result Bod started to have more of the ball and Luke Hallaway pulled one back [70]. This was just what the juniors needed as they pushed more men forward and it paid off as Hallaway struck again [82]. Now it was game on but Mynydd defended in numbers and safely saw out the remaining eight minutes
