WITH JACK HIGGINS GRABBING A HAT-TRICK

Llandegfan Antelope became the first team to takes points off the Leaders Morawelon with a 3-3 draw, and if manager Jamie Davies had been offered that result before the game he would no doubt have jumped at it, but after holding a 2-0 half-time lead he would see it as losing two points. The hosts were ahead after four minutes when new boy Gerwyn Roberts set up leading scorer Jack Higgins and an excellent team display kept the Moras’ strike force quiet, so much so that keeper, Ben Richards hardly had a shot to save and other than collect over hit balls or ones ushered back to him by his solid defence. Despite the hard work put in by the home defence their forwards were still creating chances and a minute before half-time Higgins was through, and as keeper Nick Murphy and a defender closed in on him, he side stepped the two, who collided as he slipped the ball past them both into the net to make it 2-0. Within a minute of the re-start, Morawelon were thrown a life-line when they were awarded a penalty, Jordon Murphy’s mazy dribble brought to an end in the box by bringing him down, and the reliable Barry Haigh stepped up to make it 2-1. This was the lift that the leaders wanted and they showed their resolve when Dale Murphy with his back to goal spun to drill a low shot in to the bottom corner and make it 2-2. With eight minutes left a clearance by Keeper Nick Murphy hit the back of one of his team-mates some 30 yards out and bounced towards Higgins who cleverly lobbed it back over the keeper and into the net for his hat-trick. Even as the hosts were celebrating and looking `to batten down the hatches’, the leaders showed why they are Champions by replying almost immediately through the tireless Jordon Murphy.
An exciting game, with two sides playing football showed Morawelon battling qualities and why they have not lost a game this season, but it also showed the capability of Llandegfan Antelope who if they can apply consistency to their performances will probably finish higher than their present position of fourth.
