LLANGOED & DISTRICT COMFORTABLE WINNERS

IN LOCAL DERBY

In the local derby between Llangoed and District , and Menai Bridge Tigers there was a lot at stake with both teams featuring players who were once with the opposition and a close encounter was anticipated by the spectators. Tigers showed their intentions and were soon on the attack, but a cross field ball was intercepted by Arwel Williams, who quickly set Wayne Thomas free and the clubs leading score r raced on to beat the keeper with a low drive after only five minutes. Then , ten minutes later the Tigers roar was silenced as Iwan Williams made it 2-0 with the goal of the game, following a five man move, catching the Tigers on the break, an inviting cross was slung over and met by a classic diving header as Williams threw himself headlong to score in style. Wayne Thomas then beat the keeper from 15 yards out to notch his second [30] The visitors slowly got back into the game but wasted two free kicks from dangerous positions with aimless shots way over the bar. Llangoed made it four before half time with the influential Tom Parry adding his name to the score sheet. The Tigers came out for the second half in a more determined mood but soon found the home defence were also in the same mood and gave nothing away leaving the second period goal-less. Catching the eye for Llangoed was Callum Graves whose energy was matched by his ability and creativity and he is one to watch for the future
