GARETH ROBERTS HITS FOUR FOR PENTRAETH

IN NWCFA JUNIOR CUP SUCESS

It was seventh heaven for Pentraeth in the third round of the NWCFA JUNIOR CUP, as the Anglesey league leaders, knocked out fellow league members Llangefni Town Reserves, with star of the show, Gareth Roberts grabbing four goals in the 7-0 verdict. Tom Taylor gave them the lead after some good work by Gareth Roberts [17]. Then seven minutes later Taylor returned the favour with a pass that saw Roberts find the net with an overhead kick to double their lead. Gareth Roberts then went on to hit a hat-trick to add to his first strike, though Mark Williams broke the sequence, getting in on the score sheet in between with a cracking shot for goal number four. Roberts had hit a blockbuster from the edge of the box following a neat pass from Graham Jones, and it was Jones again playing a through ball that Roberts latched on to before slipping it wide of the keeper. The second half saw the visitors continue with their attacking play and it was no surprise when Taylor, after taking the ball down and losing his markers, again fed Roberts who duly obliged tucking away the fifth goal, and when he was brought down in the box he did not hesitate to pick himself up and slot the ball wide of the keeper to make it six nil. It was left to defender Tony Farrar to complete the scoring when he beat a defender and drove the ball home.
