You must have heard it hundreds of times, after the game, when SKY stick the `fluffy mic’ under the manager’s nose and the manager is interviewed, he comes out with the ...”it was a game of two half’s Gary...” Well this really was the `proverbial’ game of two half’s.

Visitors, Gaerwen, were out of the blocks quicker than a clay pigeon, slamming FIVE goals in just forty minutes, leaving Cefni wondering what was going on!!! The first of the five came after just five minutes and with Gaerwen playing the ball around and creating chances they were three up before the half hour mark. Greg Parry, who hit a hat-trick last time out, tucked one away Sion Morris, and Garry Griffiths adding to Cefni’s woes. Though the hosts did manage a response, Jason Williams puling one back and Cefni started to press only for Gaerwen to respond with two more, [32 & 40] Sion Morris completing his hat-trick and the visitors looked to be running riot. But, even as the half time brew was being set out Iwan Williams struck for Cefni to make it 5-2 at the interval.

In the Cefni dressing room the manager’s words were as heated as the `panad’, whilst in the visitor’s dressing room it was all `cosy’ as they reflected on their excellent first half performance and looked forward to continuing it in the second period.
But that wasn’t to be. Whatever the manager had said – or put in their drink, worked and they penned the visitors back looking to score the next goal to have any hope of making a difference. They did just that on fifty five minutes, and what a goal it was!!. Gerallt Roberts hitting the target from fully twenty five yards out [5-3]. Cefni were now playing with style and confidence as they went in search of more goals. With eleven minutes remaining the hosts were awarded a penalty. Up stepped Arwel Williams to fire the ball into the roof of the net [captured by Thomas Williams in the picture] and make it 5-4. Surely they couldn’t pull it back to all square. No, try as they might the visitors held firm to make it played two won two scored NINE as they head group TWO
After the game the managers thought it was a game of two half’s, Gaerwen bossing the first, and Cefni bossing the second. As for the spectators they were treated to a ninety minute, nine goal extravaganza.
