IN THE LUCAS OILS CUP

SATURDAY 5th of September 2015

LUCAS OILS who have taken over sponsorship of the prestigious Dargie Cup have also introduced a new cup competition, namely the LUCAS OILS Cup and Saturday saw four ties played in the competition.

Llanfairpwll entertained Valley, who they had met in a league encounter only last week, taking the points with a ninetieth minute winner. So even though they had home advantage, and had already hit 30 goals, this time another close game was anticipated. The hosts had a bit of luck to give them the lead, when the visiting keeper, made a mess of trying to clear the ball allowing Greg Parry to tuck the ball away. Worse was to follow when Valley conceded a penalty and up stepped SHAUN MORRIS double the advantage. The hosts were now `buzzing’ and a ball played over the Valley defence out to the right of the box saw Shaun Morris cut inside a covering defender blast an angled shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-1 at the break,
There was no stopping Llan’ in the second period and a Billy Kennedy `tap in’ made it four. A second penalty award saw Shaun Morris complete yet another hat-trick with the fifth; Steve Tindall added the sixth and further strikes by Ritchie Roberts took it to eight. Valley to their credit, weren’t giving it up and Justin Williams pulled one back and more pressure saw Valley gain a second when Daryl Charlton rose highest to power home a header from a corner into the net ,........his own net that is..... for an own goal

Footnote: Llanfairpwll have now hit 38 goals and leading scorer Shaun Morris has claimed 13
