LLANDEGFAN ANTELOPE TAKES THE POINTS

IN TIGHT TUSSEL WITH ABERFFRAW

Fourth placed Aberffraw travelled to Llandegfan Antelope who at kick-off were just behind in fifth place. With the hosts enjoying some good results recently, unbeaten in their five league games, and the visitors’ strong defence and team work, a close game was anticipated and so it proved to be.
A goal less first half was not without chances as both keepers made good stops but overall it was an even contest and neither side was deserving of being in the lead. The second period looked to heading in a similar direction as the hosts struggled to make an impact on the opponents well marshalled defence, The best chance fell to the visitors and Gary Bolton looked on course to give them the lead when he broke clear but in a one-on-one with keeper Ben Richards, it was Richards who came out on top and denied the striker. Still goal-less in the last fifteen, both sides were looking to break the dead-lock and take all three points, and it was the hosts who succeeded. A neat move down the right ended with Iwan Bullock squaring an inviting pass across the penalty box, where, running in was recent signing Gerwyn Roberts who met the ball to direct it low to the keepers left into the far corner for a well worked and well taken goal that proved to be decisive. Despite the three points the two sides remain in the same positions and although the hosts are now only one point behind, Beffro’ do have a game in hand.
