AS LLANGOED FIGHT BACK AFTER CONCEEDING FIRST MINUTE GOAL TO DRAW LEVEL

KONX WALES ANGLESEY LEAGUE SEASON] 2014/15
There were two very significant games today in the KonX Wales Anglesey Football League. Whilst they wouldn’t decide the TITLE winners today, both games results would have a major say in its destiny and will hold the trophy aloft come MAY. Cemaes Bay travelled to Valley knowing anything but a win would almost certainly rule them out of the race leaving a two horse race between Bro Goronwy and Valley. Bro Goronwy who seem to have been top since the season started are favourites as they have the points in the bag but a win was a must, against visitors Llangoed & District today before they play their last two games........ BOTH against second placed Valley. All three teams knew what was needed before they kicked off so......................

Leaders, Bro Goronwy HAD to win and set their stall out early with Ioan Hughes netting a first minute penalty for a foul in the box, and the faithful sat back expecting .........Mathew Owen equalizing with a low ground shot {38]! No, I don’t think so!! But the news of it being 1 v 1, filtering through to Valley no doubt put smiles on their faces...but it would not have lasted long because two minutes later Connor Jones regained the lead with a `screamer’ that had the faithful jumping for joy [h/t2-1]

It’s no coincidence that Bro have not lost at home this season and they came out for the second half with intent and purpose and when Taylor Jones made it 3-1 there was going to be no way back for the visitors. Despite the commitment by Llangoed they conceded two late goals. A long ball over the top allowed Ioan Hughes to take the ball round the keeper for the fourth and his second [87] and two minutes later Taylor Jones made it five with his second.
So both Bro and Valley did what was required of them, and one of them will be crowned Champions. Which one? that’s the question. Bro have the points in the bag with two games left. Valley have five league games left and if they win four the Title is theirs. But with those five games they also have two Cup Finals, one semi-final and are still in with a shout for the Bwlch Car-Boot Trophy and face a difficult `run-in’ . The two games Bro have left are both against Valley, so it is all in their hands. One thing for sure is that the KonX Wales AFL will yet again have an exciting finish with the Champions not decide until the last game of the season.

HIGH FIVE AS BRO KEEP TITLE HOPES ALIVE
A flattering 5-1 home win against Llangoed keeps Bro Goronwy in with a shout for this seasons championship .......

With title rivals Valley Athletic and Cemaes Bay facing each other in a league battle on the same afternoon a home win for Bro Goronwy was the only outcome to realistically keep their title hopes alive and they couldn't have dreamed to get off to a better start.
New signing Piers Dudley making an immediate impact, forcing Llangoed into a mistake in the very 1st minute by felling the forward in the box, Ioan Hughes easily converting the resulting penalty past Rhys Owen.
Wayne Thomas so nearly levelled minutes later but unluckily smashed his volley inches over the target.
Referee Sion Hughes was pointing to the spot once more after 12 mins, this time to give Llangoed the perfect chance to restore parity. Callum Graves confidently striking the spot kick only to send the ball arrowing over the crossbar.
Bro were seemingly content on bypassing the midfield area as they seeked to get the ball to the forwards as quickly as possible and couldn't have gone closer as Ioan Hughes' cross shot couldn't be turned in by either Taylor Jones or Piers Dudley as it flashed across the face of goal.
After 38 minutes Llangoed were jumping for joy gaining the leveller but it didn't take long before Bro were back in the lead.
Firstly Matthew Owen showed great composure out wide before finding the bottom corner of the net past Hawkes with a controlled finish to make it 1-1 but minutes later the hosts were back in the driving seat.
Connor Jones sidestepped his way from his markers before unleashing an unstoppable screamer that flew into the top corner past keeper Owen.
Half-Time 2-1.
A tactical discussion at half time seemed to change Bro's style of play in the 2nd period as they looked to return to their usual passing style and it didn't take them long to increase their lead.
Excellent forward play between the top 3, Dudley, Hughes and Jones, was to be the catalyst for Bro's 3rd goal.
Jones trying his luck from outside the box and gratefully watching his shot squirm through the keepers grasp and over the goal line.
To their credit Llangoeds heads never bowed and they always seemed to be in the match as they gave Bro's defence something to worry about.
Darren Edmunds was only denied by an off the line clearance and Wayne Thomas failed to find the target with the rebound and then also kicked only air when well placed at the far post.
It took until the final minutes for Bro to secure maximum vital points as they found the net twice in the closing stages.
Both goals created by stretching the tiring away defence, Rob Tiesteel floated a majestic pass where Hughes beat the foot race to get to the ball before the gloves man to leave a simple roll in finish for 4-1.
Hughes was again Llangoed's tormentor for the 5th but not before Hawkes had to pull off a full length save at the other end of the pitch.
Immediately breaking Ioan Hughes caught out the defence and managed to drive into a position where Owen could only save his shot across the goal where Taylor Jones pounced to give the final score line a flattering feel.
Full-Time 5-1.
