IT'S BACK THIS SATURDAY......and you are invited.........

KICK-OFF 14:30

The Anglesey League season 2016/17 kicks off this Saturday with eight member teams. At the AGM there was just the one resignation, Champions Bro Goronwy stepping up to the Gwynedd League, However, the good news was there were five applications for membership giving a healthy twelve.

Following the AGM, Menai Bridge Tigers Reserves, who were to be made up of youths, gave notice they would be joining the Youth League, and Llanfairpwll Res reluctantly submitted their resignation having lost their manager .Then some weeks later, when contacting the clubs, about the new season, Llanfairfechan said they had joined the Clwyd League but had `forgot’ to notify the Anglesey League, and Maes-y-Bryn, who became members last season , posted notice, on a media web-site they were resigning and then notified the League.

So, the League has eight clubs as season 2016/17 Kicks Off but it continues to provide the Island [ and surrounds] with the opportunity to participate in organised football at grass-roots level ONE HUNDRED and NINETEEN YEARS after Menai Bridge won the league title in season 1897/8 . Chairman Mr Dennis Bryant, who arranged with sponsors, LUCAS OIL and BWLCH CAR-BOOT two additional cups to increase the number of games for clubs, said “... as long as I have anything to do with the League , I will give my all to see it continues”.
