LATE, LATE, BRO GET A LITTLEMORE HELP

TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

Bro Goronwy, who had drawn their last two games by conceding late goals, salvaged a point against visitors Llangefni Town Res., with a late, late, strike themselves to earn a 1 v 1 draw. From the off, Town showed their intentions and pressed the home defence as they went in search of goals. After just seven minutes a powerful drive by Jason Williams beat the keeper but left the cross-bar shacking as the ball thudded against it. Slowly the host began to get a foot-hold but John Littlemore blazed over when played in, and moments later saw his shot come back off the upright and Cefni spurred on by their good fortune opened the scoring. Home captain Dylan Jones headed `clear’ but the ball the ball only went as far as Dylan Williams who superbly volleyed the ball into the top corner of the net.
Bro should have been level at the break but Dylan Jones in front of an empty goal side footed the ball wide of the upright.
The second period was open and entertaining with both teams creating chances but lacked the finishing touch. Andy Swindells was unlucky when he smashed the ball against the upright, in fact the wood-work was denying players as much as the keeper as left full back Arwel Williams found when his thunderbolt cannoned back off the upright.
Desperate for a goal, Bro switched to three at the back, bringing on young forward Ryan Jones as they went all out for the equalizer but with the ninety minutes up it seemed a lost cause, that is until a lovely lighted through ball saw John Littlemore racing to meet it before the keeper and he managed to angle his neck to connect perfectly with a header on the run to send the ball over the stricken keeper into the empty net [visions of Holland’s Van Piersie] for a late leveller. Even then Bro could have `won’ it as Ryan Jones fired an inviting ball across the face of goal just begging to be poked home but no one was able to connect and the points were shared.
