CASEY bOYLAN BAGS HAT-TRICK, AND CEFNI WIN

ThE WEEK-END 24/25TH OF OCTOBER RESULT ROUND-UP.

Llangefni Town Reserves waved goodbye to Friday night football with a narrow victory, by the odd goal in three, over visitors Llanfairpwll Reserves. Hampered by work commitments on Fridays - on top of injuries, they have decided to revert to the Saturday for their home games from the start of November To overcome immediate problems they had debutant Ricky Evans between the posts and a reshuffle of outfield positions, and when they opened the scoring it was sixteen year old Mathew Jones, playing only his second game, who finished off a four man move, smashing home a right wing cross like a seasoned professional. The host doubled their lead with regular scorer, Dylan Williams, connecting with another cross from the right and it looked like the visitors were in for busy second half. But, Llanfairpwll Manager, Mark Jones has put together a squad with determination and the visitors kept plugging away and were rewarded when a mix up between the central defenders and keeper saw Steve Jones nip in to pull it back to 2-1 and make for an interesting finish, There were no further goals, Cefni being denied by the cross-bar and upright and some resolute defending, whilst the visitors were unable to breach the home defence a second time and Cefni took the points,

Holy Isle welcomed Gaerwen Reserves, and with leaders Bro Goronwy on cup duty, were looking take all three points to maintain their `title challenge’, but they were dealt an early body blow when, with just two minutes gone, Shaun Morris beat the offside trap to put the visitors ahead. The Isle shrugged off this set-back and slowly but surely took control and began creating chances almost at ease, but the fact that they were unable to take any was down to a mix of, players coming back from injury being a bit rusty and quite simply some poor finishing. Youngster Hughes making his starting debut was impressive in the first period and had a hand in the equalizer working the ball down the right flank where Gethin Rowlands slung over an inch perfect cross for Gary Stewart (Seagull) to clinically tuck away with his head. with his head. The goal had looked like coming for a while, but it certainly did not deter the visitors who replied ten minutes later with Nathan Moore drilling home a freer-kick to restore their lead and saw them go in at the break still in front. Needing the points, straight from the restart, the Isle went for broke and created chance after chance as the visitors struggled to keep them at bay, and it came as no surprise when, midfielder Adam Roberts found Gary Stewart (Seagull) who lost his marker and slotted the ball into the bottom corner for his second –certainly a good way to start your first game back from injury. Injury then saw manager Scott Marsden join the fray and quickly use his head to clear a succession of Gaerwen corners as they searched for the winner, but they were leaving themselves open to the counter and with, ten minutes left, manager Marsden won the ball to send Stuart Jewell scampering away and he picked out Adam Roberts who drives forward into the box before lashing the ball into the top corner for the winner and three points that sees them level on points with leader s Bro Goronwy.

Valley, who suffered a major set-back last week at Cemaes Bay, where they not only surrendered their unbeaten league status but also conceded five goals, were desperate to get back to winning ways on their visit to another Bay, this time fourth placed Trearddur. The hosts are no pushovers and are on their day capable of turning over any team, but Valley were determined from the off and turned on a fine attacking display and lethal finishing to such an extent that the their hosts were not able to get back into the game at all. Casey Boylan capped an excellent performance with a stunning hat-trick , and following his lead were Nathan Hughes, Shaun Jenkins. Gareth Roberts and Mathew Jones who all stuck goals in a seven goal rout that sees them tucked in fifth place BUT with games in hand.
