LLANFAIRPWLL MAKE JUNIOR CUP FINAL

By McCann Dave

BUT NEED EXTRA TIME

The second semi-final saw Llanfairpwll Res., take on Colwyn Bay Youths at Bangor City F.C and they pressed from the off creating a couple of early chances that were not taken. They went ahead when a ball played out to the left found Matty Barley who cut in and fired into the far corner. Llan were given the ideal opportunity to double the lead when match official Iwan Ellis pointed to spot........step forward top scorer Shaun Morris who struck it hard and low........but keeper Liam Jones showed his Captain qualities as he went full length to parry it away and keep his side in it [h/t 1-0].
The second period saw Colwyn Bay come, more into the game and as time ticked away they looked to be fitter than Llan’, but they still trailed by the one goal. With a couple of minutes to go Colwyn equalized through Oly Desay and the penalty `miss’ by Morris looked like it could prove to be costly as the tie went to extra time. That did not prove to be the case as Llan scored twice in extra-time, the first an own goal, and Aled Steele settled it with the second to edge them through 3-1, and book a place in the final against Llanfairfechan.
