LLANGOED MOVE OFF THE BOTTOM

AFTER OVERCOMING THE BODORGAN FIGHT-BACK

The third league game saw Bodorgan entertain a Llangoed and District team eager to build on last week’s cup win and wasted little time in their quest taking a fifth minute lead. A strong run down right ended with an inviting cross which was headed home by Mitchell Jones. Ten minutes later their confidence was sky high when Wayne Thomas creating space, struck the second. Bodorgan in keeping with other games this season were making chances but their failure to convert saw them go three goals down when a powerful John Riley header from just inside the box found the net [27]. Three goals down and under half an hour gone would have finished many a team but the Bodorgan youngsters instead of letting their heads go down, did just the opposite and lifted their game with an immediate reward. Awarded a free-kick, just outside the box, Dan Connelly carefully placed the ball before despatching his shot into the roof of the net [30].
The second half saw a big improvement from the host and it was Dan Connelly again finding the net, this time from close in, ending a fine passing move with a `tap-in’ [58]. This should have signalled the fight back but within two minutes Mitchell Jones also claimed his second to make it 4-2 and Bod’ were unable to get back in to the game and Llangoed notched their second successive win, and move off the bottom, leap-frogging their opponents.
