ONE Cemaes Bay FC. There’s only one Cemaes Bay FC. One Cemaes Bay FC”.

The song rang out at the home end of The School Lane Ground, Cemaes. Jubilant Cemaes Bay FC fans indulging in their team’s comprehensive 5 - 0 win over Gaerwen Reserves. A win which allowed them to dream with that little bit more justification.
It isn’t the most original of chants. No doubt we can do much better. In fact, we will have little choice come May if Darren was to achieve the previously unthinkable and return a long lost friend to the Bay trophy cabinet.
It’s a song which has been echoed with ever increasing frequency since the start of last season. It is now being heard ever more audibly in the football grounds on Anglesey, as the winning brand of attacking football which Darren Thomas’ Bay side have been advocating has been taken to a whole new level.
There has been no shortage of praise for the genius of Steven Mason and the mercurial wing-play of Huw Torr. The Darren Thomas’ philosophy is not tactically or structurally exclusive but fluid and able to adapt to changing formations, players and circumstances. It has been illustrated in the constant evolution from a possession-dominated 4-3-3 to an explosive, high-pressing, counter-attacking 4-1-2-3, via 3-5-2, 4-4-2 and everything in between.
More importantly, the manager has made following Cemaes Bay FC a hell of a lot of fun again. Come to think of it, it’s probably as much fun as it has ever been, at least in my lifetime. Each match is eagerly anticipated. Each weekend feels like a party, a celebration. Now, we can dream again.
Dream of competing for some silverware. Dream of actually having something to play for come May!
And for that alone Darren Thomas’ Bay must be worthy of a song. Can you think of a song Seimon Owain Jones our number one fan……………..
The next league match will be at The School Lane Ground on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 against Llangoed & District. Kick off 2.00 pm.
