SIX OF THE BEST AS BRO SQUAD GAIN RUN OUT AGAINST DEPLETED GAERWEN SIDE.......................writes Paul Scholes

It was further changes to Bro's personnel as they overcame a struggling Gaerwen side 6-0 to book a semi-final in the Bwlch Car Boot Cup.

With Gaerwen turning up at Cae Nerys wishing the season to end and with not a full compliment of players it was always going to be a damage limitation exercise for them as Bro Goronwy followed on from Monday nights game by swapping and changing and giving further players a deserved run out to keep everyone fresh for the honours run in.
Gallantly it took the home side 19 minutes to break through the determined back line, midfielder Graham Jones running across the defence before firing low past Phil Evans.
Striker Ryan Jones soon made it 2-0, bursting clear and finding his spot wide of Evans' dive and that score line remained the same until the break with the away side combining digging in and preventing further chances as well as running the clock down at every opportunity.
Half-Time 2-0.
If Gaerwen had any thoughts of using the windy conditions to their favour in the 2nd half and somehow getting back into the game they were thwarted in the opening seconds as Bro made it 3-0, Taylor Jones crossing where Ryan Jones still had plenty of work to do, bringing the ball down from the air and finishing high into the net past Evans in one movement.
Bro's 4th goal came from the battling qualities of 16 year old Tom Wilkes, forcing the ball to fall into Ryan Jones path who again confidently blasted a high finish past the former Bro Goronwy stopper.
There was to be no forgiveness as immediately from the restart it was 5-0, Taylor Jones dispossessing the defender before confidently slotting home .
A nightmare 5 minutes for Gaerwen was completed as they conceded another only 3 minutes later and this time it was Wilkes himself that stole the show, unleashing a powerful drive that evaded Evans' tall frame to dip into the back of the net for 6-0.
Further heroics from Evans, including a tremendous quick fire double save, prevented the damage getting any worse for the Lon Groes outfit.
The woodwork came into play at both ends, Gaerwen's Shaun Morris bouncing a wide free kick off the cross bar before Cole Whittle was only denied by the upright.
Dean Corbett between Bro's sticks had been redundant all game but showed quality when needed to save well at the opponents feet in the last action of the tie.
The win ensures Bro Goronwy finish top of their group and seal a .semi final tie in the Bwlch Car Boot Trophy.
Full-Time 6-0.
