The BETFRED TROPHY brought together local rivals Bodorgan and Newborough in a tingling local derby where both clubs were eager to win to earn the `bragging rights’ as well as progress to the next round. With Newborough doing well and Bodorgan next to bottom it was easy to see who were being judged as `favourites’ But the hosts turned the form book upside down and built up a four goal lead before Newbwch’ knew what hit them. Mark Williams opened the scoring, after being played clear to beat the keeper, and Gethin Morgan doubled the lead when the keepers clearance fell to him and he forced it home. Williams then made it three with a similar goal and Morgan, leaving two or three defenders in his wake struck the fourth. Newbwch did have a chance to pull one back when Nathan Moore stepped forward to take a penalty only for keeper Chris Evans to save the day, though he stood no chance with a late Rob Hughes strike to make it 4-1
