PENTRAETH THROUGH TO SEMI FINAL

By McCann Dave

AS TAYLOR STRIKES TWICE.

Pentraeth, are through to the semi-final of the prestigious KonX Wales Dargie Cup, following a harder earned victory at Llangefni Town Reserve than the 4-1 score-line suggests.

They went ahead as early as the 15th minute when Tom Taylor rose head and shoulders above everyone to powerfully head home a right wing corner. Despite their lead Pentraeth were not dominating and the hosts were pushing the ball around and creating space, and it was from one such move that Cefni drew level. When the ball was played in the keeper failed to collect cleanly and Mark Wilson tucked it away [30] to end the half all square. Within two minutes of the re-start, Pentraeth regained the lead, with Cefni on the attack looking to go ahead they were caught on the break, when the ball was hoofed clear from defence,up field, and found Tom Taylor who ran on, beat a couple of defenders before going on to slot it past the keeper. Pentraeth made the game safe with some fifteen minutes remaining when Rees Roberts shot from inside the box, and although his initial shot was parried, he managed to get his foot to the rebound and find the net to make it 3-1. There was still time for striker Gareth Roberts to get in on the act when the ball seemed to get stuck in the box and he was able to force it home. Pentraeth will now meet Llandegfan Antelope in the semi-final.
